Job Description

Position Overview:

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Director of Technical Program Management to lead and oversee our solution engineering efforts. This role provides strategic leadership and oversight to a team of TPMs who define high-level technical solutions, collaborate with product and dependent teams, and ensure seamless handover to development teams for detailed design and implementation. The Senior Director will work closely with development managers to track project status, report updates to leadership, and resolve any blockers faced by the development team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong engineering background, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record in managing complex technical projects.

 

Key Responsibilities:

· Provide leadership and oversight to a team of TPMs who work across product and dependent teams to define high-level technical solutions.

· Ensure that solution designs align with business objectives and technical goals and timelines.

· Facilitate the seamless handover of detailed design and implementation tasks to development teams.

· Collaborate closely with Development Managers to track project status, ensuring timelines and milestones are met.

· Report project updates, progress, and any issues to leadership in a clear and concise manner.

· Assist Development Managers in resolving any blockers or technical challenges faced by the development team.

· Ensure solutions are scalable, sustainable, and align with the overall technical strategy of the organization.

· Drive continuous optimization of solution design processes to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

· Mentor and develop the professional growth of direct reports, fostering a culture of high performance and achievement.

· Build and manage a high-performing team of TPMs, ensuring alignment with company goals and strategic direction.

· Work with business sponsors and stakeholders to develop project roadmaps that align with business objectives and resource availability.

· Collaborate with global teams, including those in Singapore, Austin, Bangalore, and Foster City, requiring flexibility in working hours.

· This is a hybrid position, with expectations to work from the office two days a week, typically Tuesdays and Wednesdays.

Qualifications:

· Basic Qualifications:

· 12 or more years of work experience with a bachelor’s degree or at least 10 years of work experience with an Advanced degree (e.g., Masters/MBA/JD/MD), or a minimum of 5 years of work experience with a PhD.

· Preferred Qualifications:

· 15 or more years of experience with a Bachelor's Degree or 12 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g., Masters, MBA, JD, or MD), PhD with 9+ years of experience.

· Hands on expertise in creating solutions for complex problems and working with dependent stakeholders to align on solutions and implementation timelines.

· Extensive experience in designing and implementing scalable and sustainable technical solutions.

· Strong understanding of program dependency management, creating timelines, monitoring risk and driving towards resolution.

· Experienced in leading annual planning functions for complex, cross-functional organizations.

· Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate technical and business issues and solutions effectively.

· Deep analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think strategically.

· Strong leadership qualities and organizational skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to change.

· Proficient in tools such as JIRA, Wiki, and Microsoft Office tools.

· Knowledgeable in Site Reliability, Performance Engineering, Security, and Testing Domains.

· Exceptional knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Lean principles and practices.

· Financial services and payments network experience is a plus.

This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office two days a week, Tuesdays and Wednesdays with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% of the time based on business needs.

Demonstrated expertise in financial management, budgeting, program or project cost accounting, expense accounting, internal labor capitalization policies, and sourcing practices and processes
Experienced in leading annual planning functions for complex, cross-functional organizations with myriad interdependent systems and products
Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills. In particular, a demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to different organizational levels
Deep analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to think strategically
Strong leadership qualities and organizational skills as well as the ability to adapt quickly to change (e.g., changing priorities, assignments, and roles)
Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies, and best practices.
Skilled in conflict management and negotiation to achieve project goals and develop trust with stakeholders
Proficient in JIRA Align, PPM, Rally, Jira, Wiki, Microsoft Office tools (Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, SharePoint), and Hyperion.
Decent knowledge of Site Reliability, Performance Engineering, Security and Testing Domains
Demonstrated knowledge of program and project management methodologies and best practices, software and product development lifecycles (SDLC, PDLC) required. Strong process orientation and demonstrated ability to define and document new or improved portfolio and program management processes, templates and tools, and create a wide variety of reporting mechanisms for leadership, stakeholders, and team members.
Exceptional knowledge of Agile/Scrum/Lean principles and practices
Financial services and payments network experience is a plus. Knowledge of Visa's financial practices and technology processes is a plus but not required.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

Mental/Physical Requirements: This position will be performed in an office setting.  The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 191,700 to 299,650 USD per year, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
