Sr. Director Strategic Sourcing For Raw Materials & Components (Remote)

Job Purpose

As the Sr. Director of Strategic Sourcing for Raw Materials and Direct Components, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and executing strategic sourcing plans for EnerSys's Gigafactory. This role is crucial in designing a robust supply chain network and developing long-term supplier relationships that are aligned with the company's operational goals. Additionally, you will manage supplier contracts and Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) throughout the product lifecycle, focusing on creating competitive advantages through joint sourcing strategies with partners and suppliers. During the initial phase of the Gigafactory’s development, you will also lead essential project management efforts, ensuring that strategic sourcing initiatives are seamlessly integrated with the broader construction and operational milestones of the Gigafactory.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities Project Management: Support the Gigafactory’s build-out by playing a key role in project management, ensuring that sourcing strategies align with critical project timelines and deliverables as the facility becomes fully operational. Strategic Sourcing: Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement both short-term tactical and long-term sourcing strategies for raw materials and components specific to the Gigafactory project. Supplier Development: Identify, select, and develop suppliers, ensuring a compliant and efficient supply chain network that meets business objectives in areas such as lead time, cost, quality, and vendor-managed inventory. Contract and LTA Management: Lead the negotiation, development, and management of supplier contracts and Long-Term Agreements (LTAs) to ensure long-term sustainability and alignment with EnerSys’s goals. Pricing Strategies: Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and partners to establish battery-grade raw material pricing strategies that drive competitive advantages and support financial objectives. Supply Chain Optimization: Continuously analyze demand and supply trends to evaluate lead times, total landed cost, and overall supply chain improvements. Develop policies, objectives, and initiatives to enhance sourcing efficiency. Supplier Selection: Guide cross-functional teams in determining when products should be sourced from single or multiple vendors to mitigate risk and ensure supply continuity. Act as a senior escalation point for any supplier performance issues. Supplier NPI (New Product Introduction): Manage supplier NPI processes, working closely with project managers to ensure that supplier development aligns with product launch timelines. Global Supplier Relationships: Oversee the development and management of global supplier relationships, ensuring long-term business partnerships that support EnerSys’s global supply chain strategy. Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Contracts/Legal team to define and negotiate supplier contractual terms. Collaborate with other business functions to address and resolve supplier performance issues. Supplier Visits: Travel globally to build strong relationships with suppliers and ensure compliance with supply chain objectives, often on short notice.
  Travel Requirements 30% international travel required Work Environment While this is currently a remote working position, the expectation is that this position will ultimately be located on-site in Greenville, SC, USA within 2 years of acceptance of the position.  Qualifications Master’s degree in a relevant field, preferably related to battery-grade raw materials or supply chain management. 10+ years of global supply chain leadership experience, with a strong focus on strategic sourcing and supplier relationship management. Proven experience negotiating complex supplier contracts and long-term agreements. Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with experience managing teams across multicultural, geographically dispersed environments. Excellent communication skills in written, verbal, and presentation formats. Preferred Qualifications Global supply chain experience, particularly in the automotive or energy storage industries. Deep understanding of the raw materials market, especially within the battery-grade materials space.
