We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer for our Renewable operations, to support our Wind Farms across North America. The ideal candidate will have overall 7 years’ experience and provide electrical engineering and Balance of Plant (BoP) support to a variety of Bulk Electric System (BES) wind facilities across North America.

Your expertise and experience would provide thorough engineering support for power operations, reliability compliance and contributing to the overall safety and reliability of our (BES) solar facilities.

What you will do:

Act as the primary Electrical Engineering SME to resolve operational and reliability issues in turbines and BoP systems, leading root cause analysis, and troubleshooting

Electrical Engineering SME to lead and deliver complete reliability compliance deliverables

Collaborate with Engineering team members and Plant Managers to ensure Balance of Plant (BoP) maintenance activities are performed adequately

Work with various turbine vendors to enhance, improve, or modify aggregate or turbine specific voltage and frequency controls

Perform in-house BoP protection system assessments to identify and address maloperations, including making necessary logic or setting modifications in collaboration with Plant Managers and adjacent utilities

Collaborate effectively with Plant Managers and Consultants to perform arc-flash assessment of Wind facilities in North America

Where applicable, coordinate with Enbridge’s Control Center and consultants to manage or lead changes to existing SCADA system

Expand your reach by providing engineering support to assets installed in various jurisdictions such as NERC, WECC, SERC, TRE, NPCC, IESO, and AESO

Who You Are:

You possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Required specialization: Electrical) with Professional Engineering designation

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in Wind farms, reliability compliance requirement, BoP Engineering operation support and overall 7 years of experience as an Electrical Engineer or Specialist. Combination of education and experience may be considered

Good understanding and experience of dealing with Type 3 and Type 4 wind turbine generators including its controls, converters and auxiliary electrical components such as switchgear and turbine transformer

Strong electrical background to perform necessary engineering maintenance and field troubleshooting activities.

Must be able to work with applicable SEL and GE software to perform necessary protection system review or changes.

The successful candidate must be familiar with applying applicable CSA/IEEE/ANSI Standards for medium & high voltage equipment and NETA standards for testing related activities.

Ability to travel 30% to our wind farm sites
