Raytheon Industry 4.0 - Smart Digital Factory and Automation (SDF&A) has an immediate career-growth opportunity for an enthusiastic, highly motivated, and innovative Automation Systems Engineer team member to join our Team. As an Automation Systems Engineering team member, you will be responsible for the design, development, implementation, and sustainment of automation solutions and advanced IIoT / Industry 4.0 technologies in support of manufacturing. The role includes developing physical automation solutions (robots, PLCs, HMIs, and vision systems) and their integration with business systems (primarily using Ignition).  

What You Will Learn 

This role will merge technical, manufacturing, and business knowledge to drive new innovations across Raytheon.  The role has a foundation in controls engineering but offers significant opportunities for growth including developing new automation opportunities, quantifying business value, presenting to leadership, and then coordinating across functions to execute initiatives.  The candidate will work in a highly collaborative, diverse, geographically distributed team of engineers and leaders.

What you will do: 

Continuous improvement, upgrades, and sustainment of deployed automation systems using core ASE skills including PLC programming, Robotics programming, Vision programming, HMI programming, and controls upgrades.  

Collaborate with the factory to identify, development, and deploy process automation systems and digital solutions.  

Integration of equipment with business systems for performance monitoring, data collection, and/or transactional automation.  

Exposure and input to full I4.0 project lifecycle– from requirements generation to technical project management to execution & sustainment of automation projects 

 

Qualifications you must have: 

Typically requires BS in an Engineering field or the sciences (STEM)Preferred: MS in engineering AND 5+ years of experience in manufacturing operations/engineering, systems engineering, controls engineering, and/or automation engineering; or 3+ years with an advanced STEM degree in Engineering 

The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance 

Experience programming Fanuc Robots 

Experience programming Rockwell PLCs 

Experience with automation mechanisms, controls, robotics, troubleshooting, and/or vision systems 

Qualifications we Prefer: 

Active DoD Secret Clearance 

Fanuc Robotics experience 

Rockwell PLC experience 

Keyence, Cognex, or iRVision programming experience 

Python or other scripting experience 

Experience with control systems design (AutoCAD preferred)

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
