Product Environmental Compliance Sr. Engineer (RoHS & REACH)
Lumentum’s Product Environmental Compliance team monitors development of regulations pertaining to the substance restrictions in products and ensures continued compliance of all Lumentum’s products with current and new requirements globally. The senior Environmental Compliance Engineer will be responsible for compliance review of components and products, will issue compliance declarations for products and manage elimination of certain hazardous substances from products.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Request and review suppliers’ material declarations, technical specifications and test reports to prove material, component and assembly complianceAnalyze Bills of Materials of various products, review substances used and evaluate product compliance with global substance restriction requirementsGenerate product compliance reportsIssue full material declarations and compliance declarations for productsComplete compliance surveys and respond to customer inquiriesReview product engineering changes to ensure continuous complianceManage projects to collect and review material declarations from suppliers, and to eliminate certain hazardous substancesKeep up to date and provide updates on environmental compliance legislation in AsiaInteract with various teams (Supply Chain, R&D, Manufacturing, Contract Manufacturers, Sales) to obtain data and provide compliance informationJob requirements/qualifications:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Environmental Engineering/Science, Material Science or Chemistry4+ years of industry experience in environmental compliance process, preferably in electronic industryThorough understanding of environmental compliance regulations and standards affecting electronic products (EU RoHS, China RoHS, REACH, POPs, WEEE)Solid technical knowledge of materials, chemicals and hazardous substances used in electronicsDetail oriented, able to check for errors and inaccuraciesProven ability to multitask and work on multiple projectsExcellent teamwork, and experience in working with multiple departmentsFamiliar with manufacturing environmentFluent in English (speaking and writing)Proficiency in MS Office, MS Outlook, Web applicationsKnowledge of Agile is highly preferredWe are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company.
