Job Description SummaryResponsible for designing , developing and testing Embedded Software (Firmware), platforms and systems that control and runs on devices that need to be tailored to the needs of the hardware that it has to control and run on (i.e. directly controls the real time functions of a physical device such as motors, alternators, engines, valves, fans, and other devices and products). Typically requires a deep understanding of the characteristics of the physical device being controlled, the realtime functions it is expected to perform and the ability to design, develop, implement, and test the logic and software required to realize the realtime functionality. Usually tailored for products and services across various P&Ls. Impacts the team's ability to achieve service, quality and timeliness of objectives. The role is subject to operating policy objectives. There is moderate autonomy within the role. High levels of operational judgment are required to achieve outcomes required.Job Description
The GE Aerospace Defense&Systems Sub-Section Manager will lead a group of highly skilled engineers in the Domain of Embedded Software and Systems. He/She will be instrumental in people leadership, capability development and customer collaboration in order to plan the project landscape for his/her section. In addition to that, the manager will also be responsible for contributing to Site and Section objectives by being an effective member of the engineering management team of GE Aerospace Defense & Systems.

More specifically, the Sub-Section Manager will:
Hold responsibility for the overall people Leadership in her/his sectionLead the People and Performance Growth process for his/her staff by establishing team and individual priorities, hold a regular checkpoint rhythm and provide timely and concise feedbackEngage into career planning for and with her/his team membersDefine the training and development needs of her/his teamEnsure a collaborative and fulfilling work environmentBe the communication focal for his team by flowing down information and seeking the team’s feedback to bring it up on management meetingsDefine and participate in Talent Development and Performance Improvement programsBe open to receive feedback and improve their personal performanceWork closely with our GE customers to ensure that appropriate resources are available and satisfy project requirements in regard to skills, capacity and availabilityTake full ownership of the liquidation of engineering hours into revenue (fulfill Yield targets)Contribute to the hiring process by defining the needs and support the evaluation of the candidatesHold responsibility for project fundingEnsure a smooth execution of projects in his/her area responsibility and highlighting and resolving upcoming issuesAdvocate for the GE Warsaw site and his team in customer interactionsScan the horizon for new potential projects/competence needsContribute to section and site strategyEnsure the delivery of section and site objectivesOrganize work in a manner ensuring the fulfillment of the requirements and expectations defined by AS 9100Identify opportunities for improvementQualifications/Requirements
Masters/Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer scienceSignificant experience of working in a highly technical engineering field, preferably avionics systems.High proficiency in spoken and written EnglishHighly developed communication skillsDesired Characteristics
