As a Sr. Experience Designer (XD), you have a passion for and are responsible for ensuring the user-viewpoint is well-represented in everything that the Residential Digital Products teams do, from planning through development, and release. You are comfortable wearing many different hats: from XD evangelist, to XD strategist, to XD designer. You have deep design experience and can plan and facilitate Design Thinking workshops and other user research techniques when called upon, generating ideas that can be crafted into intuitive designs that represent an empathy for our Digital users.
You are also a driven design strategist comfortable providing design vision to the team, working with people across products and across disciplines, balancing business objectives, end-user goals, and technical requirements to help plan the creation of world-class experiences. You understand the importance of whole team buy-in and bring your Product Owner and developers with you through the process. By obtaining and communicating user needs for short-term and long-term visioning, validating experiences in an agile environment, and converting deeper exploration into concepts that impact multiple project teams, you have a key role in impacting customer, prospect, and partner experiences. You look forward to leading a team that is used to design execution into the realm of design strategy.
Where is the work:
This position has been designated as Hybrid work schedule with work performed onsite 3 days each week at a core Trane Technologies location, preferably Davidson, NC, Broomfield, CO or St. Paul, MN.
Responsibilities:
Establish, evolve and evangelize design strategy across the company. Build credibility with stakeholders, management peers, direct reports, and executives. Provide leadership and direction to the team that drives action and enables achievement of the Digital organization’s goals. Communicate best practices for design and reasoning behind XD decisions to key stakeholders Lead and oversee a team of XD Designers by providing design feedback and direction to ensure intuitive and innovative solutions. Contribute to the creation and evolution of design principles, guidelines and patterns. Drive consistency into digital solutions across the organization by partnering with engineering to create, establish and effectively govern a design system. Stay informed about user experience and design trends and user preferences. Assess and optimize the performance of new and existing features by collaborating with the XD Research team to interpret analytics data, plan and participate in usability testing and other user research techniques. Work independently, demonstrating a high level of accountability, initiative, flexibility, and the ability to manage workload and achieve results under general prioritization and guidance of the XD Director. Evangelize and advocate for experience design, user research, user-centered design philosophy, and best practices within the department, within Trane, and externally. Documentation outlining XD Strategy, Vision, Process and Goals Contribute to persona and journey maps and other user research artifacts and activities Contribute to the creation of sitemaps, flow charts, wireframes and prototypes aligned to a consistent Design Language/Pattern Library Establish style guides and design specifications for final visual design (as needed beyond Design System artifacts) Presentations with various levels of design information for a variety of audiencesRequired Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Design, Human Computer Interaction or a related field. 6+ years in a user experience or interactive design role for web and mobile experiences in an agile environment 1-2+ year work experience in a leadership role Strong Communication and Presentation Skills Solid experience with Figma, Axure, Sketch, Adobe XD, Omnigraffle, or other wireframing tools A strong portfolio of user experience work Comfortable working with XD research and design agencies Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritiesAdditional Preferred Experience:
Experience designing and measuring the effectiveness of both B2C and B2B experiences Experience facilitating design studios and design sprints Excellent presentation skills, including preparing presentations and presenting them to various local and remote audiences Excellent written/verbal communication and interpersonal skills Excellent understanding and experience designing responsive mobile websites/apps Strong XD research experience; quantitative research experience preferred Solid visual design and software acumen Experience in industrial design or similar field Experience in consulting or XD agencyBase Pay Range: $110,000 - $160,000
Total compensation for this role will include a commission/incentive plan. Disclaimer: This base pay range is based on US national averages. Actual base pay could be a result of seniority, merit, geographical location where the work is performed.
