Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain static and transient hydraulic pipeline models to support throughput, facility development, growth capital activities and gas control.
· Identify the scope of facilities for business development projects and work with operations and/or engineering to prepare cost estimates and AFE. Communicate the technical aspects of the market and required equipment to operations and engineering.
· Interfaces with customer’s technical resources to evaluate the design parameters of proposed projects and negotiate the physical aspects of interconnect and operating agreements.
· Evaluates and recommend system and horsepower configurations based on current and projected directional gas flows with the goal being to minimize fuel, electric power consumption and O&M expenses while maximizing throughput across the system.
· Calculate allocation volumes for outages (planned, unplanned, FM)
· Create, review, and maintain segment and point capacities in the Capacity Analysis System
· Review and approve firm transportation capacity requests for amended and new contract requirements and related FERC required web postings.
· Support FERC-required filings (Form 567, Form 2 data, blanket facility reports)
· Develop and recognize potential growth opportunities and business development. Lead process design and development efforts in support of major capital projects.
Requirements:
Education and/or Experience, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. The requirements for this position are listed below:
· Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline
· 6-10 years’ experience in the natural gas pipeline or gas processing industry or equivalent work experience.
· Knowledge of engineering principles and practices for analysis.
· Experience designing gas pipeline systems or modeling gas pipeline throughput conditions.
· Familiarity with Regulatory, Financial, Marketing, Market Services, Operations and Gas Control functions desirable.
· Working knowledge of Environmental, DOT and FERC regulations.
· Strong analytical skills, including ability to recognize, analyze and recommend alternative solutions to problems and issues.
· Excellent people skills and comfort dealing with customers and all levels of management.
· Proficiency with various software systems and pipeline simulation software.
SPECIAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Must be able to work under a constantly changing environment. Occasional travel required with potential for overtime with little or no notice. The position will be filled at a level commensurate with experience and qualifications.
Required experience is commensurate with the selected job level:
The Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 3-6 years of relevant job related experience The Senior Engineer level requires a Bachelor’s degree in an engineering disciplineand 6-10 years of relevant job related experience The Staff Engineer level requires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 10+ years of relevant job related experience The Principal Engineer level requires Bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline and 12+ years of relevant job related experience with a strong preference for a PE licenseWorking Conditions:
The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Normal office working conditions and field work Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time due to prolonged periods of sitting or standing. Occasional overnight travel may be required. Visits to industrial/manufacturing settings, which may include exposure to various materials and chemicals, as well as extreme temperature conditions and loud machinery, and require appropriate personal protective equipment will occur.
