Designs, develops, modifies and evaluates components and processes used in the generation, manipulation, transmission and storage of electricity. Determines design approaches and parameters. Analyzes equipment to establish operating data, conducts experimental tests and evaluates results. Selects components and equipment based on analysis of specifications and reliability. Prepares engineering documents including cost estimates, appropriation requests, project schedules, design specifications, instruction specifications, purchase requisitions, operating manuals, and technical reports. Interacts with users to define system requirements and/or necessary modifications. Coordinates all work within the scope of assigned projects regarding technical equipment and machines and ensures that objectives are met and within budget. Role typically requires more than 12 years of experience.
