We are seeking a talented Sr. Geotechnical Engineer to join our team in the Mid-Atlantic. This position is located in Philadelphia, PA.
Responsibilities: Provide technical support for geotechnical and civil engineering projects, and occasionally environmental, compliance, and multidisciplinary projects Conduct engineering analyses, calculations, and computer modeling (e.g. slope stability, seismic design parameters, seepage, settlement, and consolidation, etc.) Contribute to and prepare technical reports summarizing research with findings, recommendations, and conclusions Prepare design plans, data tables, figures, logs, specifications, and other deliverables Assist with field investigation plan preparation and coordination of field/site work and staffing Periodically perform general field tasks such as site reconnaissance, field observations, measurements, photographic documentation, reconnaissance, and pre-marking for explorations Periodically perform field exploration activities, including borehole logging, soil sample classifications, and documenting groundwater conditions Observe foundation installations, geotechnical-related site work, ground improvement activities, and perform technical evaluation of work performed by others, including field observations, exploration activities, and reconnaissance Oversee work performed by third-party contractors, engineers, or other entities, and provide recommendations related to their activities
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering; Master’s degree preferred 9+ years of experience in geotechnical engineering PE required Knowledge of civil and geotechnical engineering principles, practices, design, and the ability to apply the knowledge to project-related issues Familiarity with shallow and deep foundation design and construction, and skills to assist with project management Strong analytical skill set with an ability to exercise sound judgment in evaluating engineering problems and making decisions Strong communication skills when interacting with others, and the ability to express opinions effectively and professionally Self-leadership and accountability with attention to detail, multi-tasking, and prioritization of responsibilities Knowledge of discipline-specific design and analysis software (i.e. Slide2 and Settle 3 from Rocscience, SlopeW, LPILE, and AutoCAD/MicroStation) Must have a valid Driver’s License
