About the Team The Supply Chain team focuses on keeping things moving across all aspects of our business. They make an impact by ensuring our products get from the vendors to the DCs to the stores in the most efficient and timely way. About the Location Hybrid Position: This position may be considered Hybrid based on PetSmart’s FlexSmart policy and business needs. A Hybrid work arrangement is considered to be a blend of onsite and remote work activity. Associates with a Hybrid work arrangement have a work space at Phoenix Home Office and can be required to come onsite between 1-5 days a week as determined by leadership and based on business needs. About the Job Position Overview: We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Industrial Engineer to join our team at PetSmart. As a Senior Industrial Engineer, you will play a critical role in optimizing our distribution center's efficiency, productivity, and overall operational performance. You will lead and execute projects to enhance processes, implement best practices, and drive continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in industrial engineering principles, supply chain management, and distribution center operations. The ideal candidate will also demonstrates confidence in presenting ideas, navigating disagreements with diplomacy, and fostering relationships across diverse teams. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES: Process Optimization: Identify, analyze, and redesign key operational processes within the distribution center to streamline workflow, reduce cost, and drive productivity. Continuous Improvement: Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives, utilizing tools such as Lean Six Sigma to drive operational excellence and eliminate waste. Workflow Design: Design and implement efficient workflows, ensuring optimal utilization of technology, equipment, and labor resources to achieve operational targets. Technology Integration: Identify and implement technology solutions and automation to drive operational efficiency and accuracy. Ensure seamless integration, data manipulation, and reporting with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Labor Management (LM) to support operational objectives. Methods: Subject matter expert in documented methods. Provide guidance to the operation on correct methods and consult on proposed methods changes. Labor Standards: Lead execution of the Labor Standards Program. Maintain standards and methods and be the subject matter expert on the Labor Management System. Ensure consistent execution across the network. Cross-functional collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including operations, transportation, procurement, and IT to improve distribution center operations in alignment with broader organizational goals. Communication and People Skills: Collaborate and communicate effectively with leadership, cross-functional partners, and operations teams to influence decisions and drive initiatives. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This position may have supervisory responsibilities. CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSES/SKILLS Proficiency in SQL for data analysis and reporting; Preferred: Experience with Lean Six Sigma or similar process improvement methodologies. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to collect, analyze, and interpret complex data sets to drive informed decisions. Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS), material handling equipment, and automation technologies. Excellent project management skills, including leading and executing projects from concept to implementation. Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence across different levels of the organization. Experience using MOST and developing engineered labor standards. Experience with Warehouse and labor management systems. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or a related field. Master's degree is a plus. Minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial engineering, with a significant focus on distribution center optimization or a comparable environment.
