Sr. Info Management Engineer

      

This role delivers value through leadership and guidance of our data stewardship community, establishing metadata and improving data quality in alignment with policies, standards and industry best practices. This will enable Thrivent to better understand and rely on data to drive strategic priorities.
The Data Management Consultant (DMC) is a member of the Data Management and Governance team. This role will partner closely with data owners and stewards, the business, and IT to help deliver practical solutions and capabilities for data governance, metadata, data quality, data classification, business rule management, and data analysis. The DMC will partner closely with the business, Legal, Privacy and Compliance to implement data policies, standards and procedures to create clear, actionable practice for consumption, quality, and use of enterprise data. Individuals in these roles must have a holistic perspective on the entire data governance process from both a business and technical perspective and a desire to improve and sustain the quality and integrity of data to instill trust with business stakeholders. The Data Management and Governance team operates under a federated model to partner with various business and technical teams to implement data practices within those teams. A key role of the DMC is to provide coaching and guidance to these various teams to help them implement, maintain, and measure good data management practices within the teams and across the enterprise.

         

          

Job Description

Job Duties and Responsibilities

Assists in the development and execution of the Data Management & Governance Framework and StrategyDevelops, maintains and ensures adherence to policies, standards, controls and procedures for data governance, data quality and metadata across all data systems and projectsFacilitates, coaches, mentors and trains data stewards in all business units on creating and managing sound data management programs.Initiates definition of authoritative data sources, data quality standards and quality assurance metricsCreates visible scorecards, dashboards, and metrics to align direction and progress toward data consistency and reliable, known sources of truthDevelops and leads domain/subject area working groups and communication to execute prioritized data governance activities and to address data quality issues, timely remediation and plan to prevent future data issuesDrives resolution of source, definition, naming, and business rule conflicts among consuming applications and user communitiesPartners with Data Owners and Stewards to ensure consistent use of data definitions, authorized data sources, and calculations.Develops and maintains training programs to optimize the efficiency and effectiveness of Data Governance, Metadata and Data Quality tools and processes.Serves as a liaison between Business areas and technology to ensure that data-related business requirements are clearly defined and communicatedSupports build out of metadata management ensuring data lineage/ source to target data mapping for key data assetsPartners with data stewards to deliver insights, manage access and guide the integration of business and technical metadata.Provides oversight on the delivery of end to end data lineage (upstream and downstream traceability) of critical data elements across the Thrivent data ecosystem.Partners with Data Quality teams to perform data quality audits, identify data collection issues, suggest improvements, and help implement fixes.Engages in tool evaluations from a data management perspectiveDevelops and deliver presentations for department and senior leadership.Facilitates change management processes and tasksPerforms other duties as assigned

Required Job Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Business, Finance or Information Systems, or equivalent8+ years of professional experience in related positions working with data, integrations or databases including 3+ years prior lead experience4 to 6 years of experience in data governance disciplines: metadata management; data quality analysis; data quality remediation; data profiling and data lineage and business intelligence and data architecture.Strong interpersonal skills with an ability to deal with multiple and sometimes conflicting personal agendasAbility to facilitate small group (up to 20) discussion and decision makingExcellent communication skills, both written and oral, ability to tailor messages to different levels of the business, and interact with all levels and functions within an organizationStrong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities, identify and deliver on critical tasks, while ensuring quality, professional work and maintaining high standardsAbility to navigate and work effectively in a dynamic environment, maintaining strong relationships across functional teamsAbility to apply good discretion and exercise judgementAbility to work independently with light to moderate supervision in various areas of responsibilityExtensive knowledge and expertise in all phases of data lifecycleAbility to work independently with light to moderate supervision in various areas of responsibilityProficient with Microsoft Office desktop tools (Word, Excel, etc.)

Preferred:

Significant experience in financial services industry preferredAdvanced degree or equivalent in MIS, Computer Science or related field

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $118,105.00 - $159,788.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions. The base pay actually offered will be determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to, location, relevant experience, skills, and knowledge, business needs, market demand, and other factors Thrivent deems important.
