Sr. Instructional Designer
The Instructional Designer works with their manager to design, develop, and facilitate effective learning and development programs based on identified needs of the organization including soft skills, leadership development, competencies, technical skills, and coaching. Programs will include a mixture of e-learning, assessments, classroom, peer-to-peer learning, on-the-job training, mentoring, and coaching. 

The Instructional Designer creates online learning modules and live web-based training sessions, instructor-led training guides, and supporting materials following an instructional design process. The Instructional Designer uses strong interpersonal, written, and visual communication skills to bring together text, images, video and audio to communicate and educate our team members. 

As adult learning integrates more and more technology and virtual tools, the Instructional Designer helps the company to make the transition to more interactive programs.

Primary Accountabilities:

Technical (70%)

Develop and/or evaluate and implement effective learning and development programs based on identified needs of the organization including soft skills, leadership development, competencies, technical skills, and coaching and including a mixture of e-learning, assessments, classroom, peer-to-peer learning, on-the-job training, mentoring, and coaching.

Apply advanced adult learning theories into practical, application-based leadership learning strategy; design learning that reflects an understanding of the diversity of learners, including a demonstrated understanding of cultural differences that may apply.

Develop comprehensive measurement strategies for all learning solutions to demonstrate business impact and effectiveness.

Test, deploy, and monitor course performance within WD Learning Management System (LMS).

Acquire and apply new technology skills to instructional design practice.

Strategic (20%)

Partner with leaders across the organization to conduct needs analysis for strategic planning of learning and development projects.

Promote collaboration, partnership and relationships among the participants and stakeholders in a design project, ensuring a consistent and effective learning experience.

Remain a thought leader in instructional design and innovation.

Administrative (10%)

Collaborate with the Talent Coordinator to manage the LMS administration such as enrollment and campaigns.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Education, Organization Development, Instructional Design or related field of study

5-7 years of related experience creating and administering online asynchronous training to adult learners; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to complete the major responsibilities/essential functions of the position

Experience working in an agile (SAM) and waterfall (ADDIE) design environment

Mastery of industry standard design software (Adobe Creative Suite, Articulate 360 Suite (especially Storyline), and Captivate)

Experience working with an LMS, preferably Workday

Strong interpersonal skills in both client interactions and team interactions and a willingness to interact with clients on a regular basis

Experience developing and conducting instructor-led training, either live or via webcast

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience designing, developing, and delivering emerging learning solutions including game-based learning, video, micro-learning, simulations, and immersive scenarios requiring multiple branching elements

Strong proficiency in video editing/motion graphics software (Adobe Premiere, etc.)

Master’s Degree in Adult learning or Instructional Design/Technology
