Summary: 

The Sr. IT PMO Manager focuses on establishing and maintaining high standards for project management practices, ensuring projects align with strategic goals and are executed efficiently, effectively, and within scope, schedule, and budget.

 

The Sr. IT PMO Manager will act as a trusted partner and collaborator with stakeholders across IT and the business to drive alignment, resolve challenges, and foster a culture of accountability and success in project delivery. Reporting to the Head of the Office of the CIO, this position is integral to our growing technology function, driving operational excellence and digital transformation initiatives. You will lead a team of approximately six permanent staff, fostering their professional development while delivering measurable business value.

 

Requirements:   

Provides strategic and operational leadership for the global team of project managers and business analysts, ensuring the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of IT projects that drive measurable business value.Champions a customer-centric approach to project delivery, ensuring all initiatives are aligned with business priorities and stakeholder expectations.Defines, implements, and continuously improves project management standards, methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid), and governance frameworks.Ensures compliance with best practices, organizational policies, and external regulations, fostering consistency and quality in project execution.Builds and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders across IT and the business to understand strategic priorities, address risks, and facilitate effective decision-making.Acts as an escalation point to resolve project challenges and ensure alignment with overarching organizational goals.Optimizes the allocation and utilization of resources across the project portfolio, ensuring an appropriate balance of workload and capacity within the team.Identifies skill gaps and resource constraints, proposing solutions such as training, recruitment, or contractor engagement to address them.Implements robust reporting mechanisms, including dashboards and performance metrics, to provide visibility into project status, progress, risks, and key outcomes.Uses data-driven insights to enable informed decision-making and maintain transparency with senior leadership and stakeholders.Promotes a culture of continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance project management practices, tools, and methodologies.Drives lessons-learned processes to capture insights and apply them to future initiatives for increased success rates.Provides end-to-end oversight of the project portfolio, ensuring initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget, while achieving the desired outcomes.Monitors project health across the portfolio, proactively managing risks, dependencies, and issues to ensure successful project execution.Leads regular portfolio reviews to ensure alignment with strategic objectives and the efficient use of resources.Present, support, and lead-by-example with a safety and quality-oriented attitude.Collaborates with IT peers and leadership to ensure that IT services are integrated and aligned with the broader IT strategy.Participate in strategic planning and contribute to the development of the overall IT strategy.Oversees and participates as an escalation point in an IT on call rotation.

Comfortable with empowering others.Conducts timely, effective performance reviews in accordance with RES guidelines.

 

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in management of information systems or related area or equivalent years' experience is required. Project or Programme Management Certification (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP, MSP) certification is preferred. 5+ years' experience working in an IT service delivery, business partnership leadership or similar role is required. 2+ years of management experience is required. 4+ years of construction or utility industry experience is preferred. Ability to travel 5-15%.Extensive knowledge of project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall, Scrum) and best practices for IT project delivery.Deep understanding of portfolio management principles, including resource planning, prioritization, and performance measurement.Strong understanding of IT systems, software development lifecycles, and infrastructure projects.Knowledge of digital transformation initiatives, cloud technologies, and emerging trends in IT.Governance and Compliance.Knowledge of governance frameworks, risk management principles, and compliance standards applicable to IT projects.Familiarity with relevant regulations, such as GDPR, and their impact on project execution.Understanding of business strategy and how IT projects contribute to achieving organizational objectives.Knowledge of financial management and budgeting as it pertains to IT projects and portfolios.Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and develop a high-performing, and diverse team.Exceptional conflict resolution and coaching skills to navigate challenges within the team and across stakeholders.Ability to align project execution with organizational strategy and drive a clear vision for project management excellence.Proficiency in planning and prioritizing multiple projects in a fast-paced, global environment.Excellent verbal and written communication skills to engage with stakeholders at all levels, from project teams to C-suite executives.Strong analytical skills to assess project performance metrics, identify risks, and develop actionable solutions.Ability to use data-driven insights to support decision-making and drive continuous improvement.Expertise in change management methodologies to ensure smooth adoption of new processes, tools, and practices.Ability to influence and lead organizational change initiatives effectively.Exceptional organizational skills to manage competing priorities, deadlines, and team workloads.Ability to maintain focus on long-term objectives while managing short-term demands.Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, matrixed environment, building strong relationships across global teams.Capable of making sound decisions under pressure, balancing competing demands and resolving complex issues.Strong judgment in determining when to escalate issues or make autonomous decisions.Demonstrated ability to consistently deliver projects on time, within scope, and within budget.Track record of achieving measurable outcomes that drive business value.Ability to adapt to changing priorities, emerging challenges, and new technologies.Flexibility to operate across time zones and cultures in a global organization.Functional competencies include Accountability, Collaboration, Excellence and Customer Focus.

 

Anticipated base salary range:  $143,000 - $168,000

 

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. This position is bonus eligible.
