The Data Management Specialist (DMS) will partner with IT application teams, data owners, data custodians, data stewards, and data consumers to improve data management and quality in technology applications and data sets across the data supply chain. They will lead technology data asset alignment with BCBS 239. Among other things, they will support other data management team members, data governance, data architecture and data analytics with establishing, monitoring rules for critical and material Data Elements and processes to scale data quality management withing Technology. They will setup the framework and methodology for data management within Technology, issue detection, drive root cause identification and remediation for identified data quality gaps. The DMS will enable completeness, accuracy, consistency, timeliness, validity and uniqueness in NT Technology data. They shall be competent in leading and delivering large scale, multi-year data management and quality initiatives in a highly matrixed environment. This role will benefit from having a high-level understanding of data governance, data architecture, analytics, technology, privacy, risk, information security and is responsible for day-to-day logistics of driving data management adoption across technology. They will partner with data and analytics team members, CIO/CTO stakeholder teams, and Enterprise Data Governance.

Responsibilities include:

Help develop, maintain and drive adoption of data quality roadmap, policies, standards and proceduresUtilize technology capabilities to maximize automation of data quality managementChampion technology/tool opportunities to improve data qualityFoster a collaborative, outcome driven environment, rooted in increasing trust in dataManage multiple small-medium data management initiativesEstablish data management framework and methodologiesRun data management working group and councilSupport the documentation and escalation of risks, issues, actions, & decisionsImplement KPIs to measure and communicate data management health and adoption across the organizationImplement and promote a data quality culture, improve data literacy through learning & developmentSupport the creation and facilitation of vendor SOWs, RFPs, and project change requests for data quality needs

Skills:

10-15 years total experience with 5+ years in banking, technologyDemonstrated success in data management improvementsGrowth mindset, demonstrating continuous improvementEstablished and built data quality function from the ground upSimultaneously managed multiple small-medium initiatives in a matrixed organizationCollibra data quality experience strongly preferredData Governance familiarity is a strong plusData analytics and data knowledge (w/ SQL skills) is a plus

Salary Range:

$90,820 - 154,280 USD

Salary range is a good faith estimate of base pay. Northern Trust provides a comprehensive benefits package including retirement benefits (401k and pension), health and welfare benefits (medical, dental, vision, spending accounts and disability), paid time off, parental and caregiver leave, life & accident insurance, and other voluntary and well-being benefits. Northern Trust also provides a discretionary bonus program that may include an equity component.
