SMS is looking for a Linux System Administrator to work on one of our contracts at Kirtland Air Force Base in New Mexico. This position is responsible for providing Tier I/II Linux Support and Administration services to Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) - Phillips Research site Information Systems Management (PRsISM) contract. You will, under minimal supervision and in conjunction with enterprise services, install, configure, and maintain various EL7/8 & Windows installed Server and Desktop systems, corresponding software/services and support light networking needs.

Responsibilities Troubleshoot problems associated with assigned server, desktop hardware, operating systems, and application software.Resolve problems or escalate for further support.Provide recommendations for hardware, systems software, and capacity planning.Evaluate new and existing application software products. Recommend upgrades or new purchases.Server tasks include storage administration (nfs/smb), permissions(POSIX/ACL), backups, and division specific servicesDesktop tasks will include day-to-day operations for user workstations and workflowsDR/Continuity planningCreate and maintain systems documentationBasic Networking (Wired and Wireless) Work in conjunction with Windows and Network Administrators for systems integration. Currently hold or be able to obtain a DoD Secret Security Clearance Currently have or ability to quickly obtain a DoD 8570 IAT-2 certification, such as CompTIA Security +CE2 or more years of Linux support or administration in an enterprise environment2 or more years of Windows support or administration in an enterprise environment
Preferred Qualifications
Professional certifications in Information Technology fieldsDemonstrated experience and expertise in analysis, installation, administration, and troubleshooting of all aspects of a client server data network.Linux Experience (especially Redhat distributions)Experience working on Military, Government, or Research systems in a classified environment
