This role requires an experienced technician to maintain, calibrate, and repair instrumentation and equipment in a regulated environment, specializing in cold storage units and monitoring systems. The position combines technical expertise with leadership responsibilities.
Your day-to-day tasks will include:
Calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair cold storage equipment including ultra-low temperature freezers, refrigerators, and environmental chambersInstall, calibrate, and replace temperature data loggers and monitoring instrumentsDocument all maintenance activities and calibration data in the CMMS through detailed work ordersProvide rapid response to critical temperature excursions and equipment failuresDevelop and update technical documentation, calibration procedures, and preventive maintenance SOPsTrain, mentor, and supervise technicians and vendorsLead technical investigations and improvement initiatives as the subject matter expertWork independently with minimal supervisionParticipate in mandatory on-call rotation for emergency after-hours supportWork overtime or temporarily modify shift as needed
Desired or Preferred Experience and Technical Skills:
Experience with ultra-low temperature freezers (-80°C) and specialty laboratory refrigeration systemsKnowledge of facility monitoring systems and building automation systemExperience with calibration software and computerized maintenance management systemsExpertise in temperature sensors, data loggers, and wireless monitoring technologiesUnderstanding of regulatory requirements for life sciences or pharmaceutical environmentsExperience leading technical teams or mentoring junior techniciansRoot cause analysis and problem-solving methodology experienceProject management skills for equipment installation and decommissioningAbility to bend/stoop, squat repetitively during shiftAbility to stretch/reach on a repetitive basis during shift
Required Skills and Experience:
2-year Technical Associate's degree or certificate in process control instrumentation, electrical or a mechanical trade5+ years as a field service technician in a GMP environment strongly preferredDemonstrated knowledge of GMP documentation requirements and compliance standardsExperience with cold chain equipment validation and temperature mappingStrong understanding of environmental monitoring systems for regulated environmentsExcellent troubleshooting and technical problem-solving abilitiesSuperior communication skills for technical reporting and cross-functional collaborationDetail-oriented with exceptional documentation practicesAbility to work independently and prioritize critical tasks effectivelProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applicationsCapability to read and interpret engineering documents and equipment schematicsPhysical ability to lift 50 poundsAbility to regularly climb extension ladders, roof ladders, stepladders, and stairs as required during shiftAbility to walk extensively throughout the facility during shiftEstimated compensation for this position:
89,600.00 – 112,000.00 USD per yearThis range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
