Schwab’s **Advisor Services Technology** (AST) organization is recruiting to hire a results-oriented and talented Technology leader with a strong track record of technology-enabled business delivery. AST supports Asset Servicing, Custodial, trading, and other Core Brokerage business capabilities to Schwab’s Institutional businesses. AST has a bimodal technology stack with a significant portion of its technology assets based on legacy mainframe technology and a growing modern, distributed set of applications as we modernize.
AST is looking for a talented technologist with domain/functional knowledge of Transactions posting, positions and balances area of the Brokerage industry, experience with high-volumes processing. The successful candidate excels in a dynamic and fast paced Agile environment and is passionate about building high quality scalable software. You should have significant experience in designing, development, testing software systems, providing support of deployed production application and enjoy acquiring and sharing your knowledge.
We are seeking an experienced Mainframe Software Developer with skills and expertise in brokerage application Development, modernization, proven track record in supporting, maintaining deployed applications. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, development, and implementation of complex software solutions that support our AST processing capabilities.

+ Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements.
+ Familiarity with building interfaces between Legacy and modern distributed applications
+ Be able to contribute to Design and implementation of modernization strategies for legacy applications, including mainframe migration and refactoring, mainframe callouts to Distributed platforms.
+ Evaluate existing legacy systems and propose solutions for improving performance, scalability, and maintainability.
+ Staying current with emerging technologies and industry trends related to legacy application modernization.
+ Effective communication skills, with the ability to collaborate with business stakeholders, platform teams, Architects and globally distributed cross-domain teams.
+ Ability to be part of a technical team, providing support and sharing knowledge with peers.
+ Strong commitment to adhering to project timelines and delivering high-quality results within specified deadlines.
+ Be self-motivated, driven, and passionate in resolving complex and time-sensitive business problems through simple and innovative technical solutions.
+ Ability to independently work as a contributing member in a high-paced and focused team
**Required qualifications:**
+ BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
+ 10+ years of experience as a Mainframe software developer, with exposure to brokerage industry.
+ 1-2 years or more of Schwab technonoly domain expereince gained as a current or recent contractor or employee
+ Proven track record of delivering on the design & development of complex, enterprise-level software systems and in providing exemplary support post-deployment.
+ Good knowledge and hands-on experience in brokerage Industry – specifically with Brokerage Business and transactions processing/Balances/Positions.
+ Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
+ Technical Skillsets must include 7-10+ years of strong COBOL, DB2, CICS, MQs, JCL, EasyTrieve
+ Experience with file transfers (SFTP, Globalscape), NAS, SPOS, and DTCC files
+ Exposure to Tools such as ChangeMan, BlueZone, BMC Remedy, Xpeditor, Control-M, Jira, Confluence
+ Experience working in an agile environment: Scrum, and Kanban
**Preferred qualifications** :
+ Experience/familiarity with Stored Procedures, Datacom DB
+ Experience with Messaging technologies such as IBM MQs, Rabbit MQ
+ Experience as a developer on an agile scrum team is a plus.
+ Some exposure to Distributed Technology stack will be a PLUS.
