Sr. Maintenance Technician

Job Summary:

The Sr. Maintenance Technician will independently perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and training on a variety of equipment (both process and utility) in support of Process Development, Research, Quality Control, and Laboratory Operations.  This position will also assist the Director of Facilities in select administrative tasks, and will act as a backup during the Director’s absence.

Location:            Newark, CA

Salary Range:    $27.00 to $42.00 per hour. The final salary offered will depend upon factors that may include, but are not limited to, the quality and length of experience, education, and geographic location.


Responsibilities/Essential Duties:

Performs routine and non-routine equipment maintenance, modifications, and repairs on a timely basis. Identifies and respond to Quality events to assure protection of product and assets. Analyzes equipment and systems, develop corrective actions to technical problems, and carry them out. Participates on project teams for major projects and complete individual projects as assigned. Orders parts and components for jobs as needed. Assists with development of a spare parts inventory for new and existing equipment. Reviews, modifies, and writes preventative maintenance and facility equipment standard operating procedures. Tests new procedures for accuracy and completeness. Documents repairs, adjustments, and replacement of equipment and/ or components per cGMP and CDC standards, as well as in accordance with Revance procedures. Provides after hours on-call support. Assists maintenance technicians if applicable in trouble-shooting of equipment. Coordinates with outside contractors to ensure projects and PM(s) are completed on time and correctly. Supports validation of equipment and system IQ, OQ, and PQ(s). Executes unscheduled maintenance work orders. Assists with technical training of new maintenance technicians. Assists other departments with training on new equipment and/or building systems. Carries out new equipment start-ups. Provides input to management on task related to performance of vendor maintenance technicians. Redlines existing drawings. Provides basis for new drawings via hand drawn diagrams and schematics. Assists with drawing updates by performing system walk downs with P&ID(s). Provides justification for small (under $25,000) capital projects and ensures capital project spending remains within specified project costs.

 Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree & 2 years of Maintenance experience; OR Associate’s degree & 4 years of Maintenance experience; OR High school diploma / GED & 6 years of Maintenance experience

Preferred Qualifications:

5+ years' maintenance experience. 3+ years' in a structured maintenance program. 3+ years' experience in pharmaceutical or biopharmaceutical industry. Advanced knowledge of electrical and mechanical principals, including basic calibration practices. Knowledge of utility systems and other process equipment in a cGMP environment. Experience in maintenance and repair of electrical, plumbing and HVAC systems, refrigeration and/or process equipment. Basic understanding of pneumatics. Ability to maintain accurate and legible records. Ability to read and understand blueprints, PLC ladder logic, P&ID(s) and electrical schematics. Ability to read and interpret documents, such as safety rules, SOPs, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write reports, justifications, procedures, work orders and PM descriptions. Ability to perform mathematical and basic engineering calculations. Knowledge of GMP(s) and CDC select agent regulations. Knowledge of PLC(s). Experience with toxin manufacturing. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
