Position Summary:
The Senior Manager, Analytics - Target will report to the Sr. Director, Sales Analytics and has dotted line responsibility to the Sales Senior Director and Directors for Target. This role will lead the Target sales analytics team in translating data into actionable opportunities while developing and standardizing high value reporting for stakeholders. Success in this role will rely on a deep and broad understanding of data and accompanying data systems. In addition, this role will guide and develop the Target sales analytics team in their daily work, helping to prioritize resources, leverage appropriate analytical methodologies, and deliver on key initiatives and projects. The successful candidate is a strong business leader with experience working in a fast-paced, matrixed organization. They must have excellent communication skills and have a sharp analytical approach. The candidate must have a proven track record of managing and developing teams/people. They must have both strong strategic capabilities and be comfortable with hands-on tactical execution.
Responsibilities:
Acts as strategic analytics partner to the Target sales team to ensure appropriate tools and datasets, are leveraged to drive meaningful insights and the strategic ability to identify and optimize sales and business opportunities. Lead the Target sales analytics team in delivering customer data & insights as listed below (but not limited to): Customer data analysis to support line reviews, distribution, shelving, merchandising, and pricing opportunities. Customer / Buyer reporting and insights (non-advisor) Promotion and event support JBP & Customer meeting preparation Sales drivers analysis and market share diagnosis Ad hoc store and item level sales analysis Trip and basket analysis Support sales operations with timely construction and updates on scorecards, dashboards, and ad-hoc reporting (and standardizing where possible). Partner with other Analytics/technical teams to manage the Target reporting portfolio and be the strategic voice to guide the Target analytics roadmap. Be the conduit for cross functional analytics that connect to Finance (e.g., pricing and promotions), Supply Chain (e.g., inventory management), and Marketing (e.g., search trends). Manage the teams project prioritization, solve roadblocks, and provide guidance on leveraging analytics strategies and methodologies. Foster the Target sales analytics teams’ analytical capabilities, skills with tools, understanding of new data sources, and how to tell stories with data. Stays abreast of industry trends and innovations. Oversee stakeholder management by understanding needs and expectations; Manage and prioritize stakeholder requests. Conduct training and facilitate education on tools and capabilities.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, business, or related field required. 7+ years of analytics experience 4+ years leading multiple direct reports 3+ years of direct and hands-on retail/CPG specific experience preferred 2+ years of experience with Target business and expertise with systems such as Vendor IQ, SOLYS, and AVP A broad understanding of analytical processes including but not limited to: data management, forecasting, optimization, predictive modeling, and visualization. Deep experience gleaning consumer insights and leveraging analytics of primary and secondary research, emerging trends, POS results and competitor/category actions to drive leadership brand sales. Advanced expertise with BI & reporting tools such as Power BI (preferred) and Tableau Advanced skills with all Microsoft Office software for the creation of management reports, presentations, and analysis Familiarity with Microsoft Azure, Databricks, & MLThe Minnesota base pay range for this position is from 140,480 to 171,700. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
