About the team and the role: 

As the Senior Manager of External Communications, you will play a pivotal role in crafting and disseminating the company strategy and annual goals to all employees. You will work closely with the Senior Director of Employee Communications, the CEO, and the eBay Leadership Team to ensure that our communications are clear, engaging, and aligned with our strategic objectives. Your ability to manage complex projects and engage with multiple partners, at all levels, will be crucial in driving our communications strategy forward!

The Global Communications team is an outstanding organization who brings eBay’s story to life to educate, engage, and encourage people around the world.

What you will accomplish:

Help shape a global channel annual strategy that creatively brings eBay’s story to life to educate, engage, and inspire employees around the world and ensure alignment and understanding through VP, Global Dir + Sync, All Hands meetings and other channels.

Collaborate with the Senior Director of Employee Communications and the eBay Leadership Team to develop agendas for key meetings, ensuring they reflect our strategic priorities and inform and advance our vision of seeing eBayers invested in our purpose and success.

Ensure that the voices of both employees and customers are represented in all communications, encouraging a culture of inclusivity and engagement.

Project manage global employee meetings and events, ensuring timelines, content, and reviews are delivered on time, while keeping all key partners informed of progress.

Develop and implement creative and innovative communication strategies that leverage visual, digital, and social storytelling to engage employees effectively.

What you will bring:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Communications, Business Administration, or a related field. Master’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.

Proven experience (8+ years) in communications, or a related role, preferable within a global organization. 

Extremely organized, deadline driven, and proactive in managing tasks and responsibilities between multiple partners with varying points of view. 

Strong writing and editing skills, with a keen eye for detail and clarity.

Creative and entrepreneurial problem solver with a strong capability in visual, digital, and social storytelling across multiple communication tools.

Experienced in managing complex projects with multiple collaborators at varying levels, adept at navigating conflict and developing consensus.

Ability to bring a business outcomes attitude to communications work, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives.

Enthusiastic about improving and sustaining employee engagement through effective communication strategies.

The candidate must be available for a “hybrid working model”, meeting the expectation to work from the San Jose, CA headquarters 3 days per week.

This role will report directly to the Sr. Director, Employee Communications.

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment in California, Washington, or New York is expected in the range below.

$148,400 - $222,750

Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including location, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, including a target bonus and restricted stock units (as applicable) in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits (including 401(k) eligibility and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO and parental leave). Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.

If hired, employees will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
