Sr. Manager, Global Income Tax (Tektronix)
**Position Overview:** The Sr Manager, Global Tax – Tektronix/EMC reports to the VP, Head of Tax and has primary responsibility global tax oversight for two Operating Companies (OpCos), Tektronix and PacSci EMC. Tektronix is a leading manufacturer of test and measurement equipment with activities in 27 countries. PacSci EMC serves U.S. customers with design and manufacturing of components used in aerospace and defense applications. With a diverse platform of companies, our business provides opportunities for continuous growth and new challenges. **What You’ll Do** This role will oversee global tax matters of the OpCos. The Company operating structure is decentralized, and this role is essential to ensure tax matters at the OpCo level receive necessary guidance and oversight. This role is expected to understand the global business of each OpCo with sufficient detail to identify business changes or changes in tax law, regulations and other guidance that will impact the overall tax burden of the Company. This role will be expected to collaborate with the global tax org and the functional teams of the OpCo to carry out responsibilities which include the following: + **OpCo Tax Planning:** For each OpCo business, this role is expected to facilitate income tax guidance, bring independent research, and strive to understand the impact income tax laws, regulations, and relevant court rulings will have on the tax outcome of the Company. Establish and maintain relationships across OpCo leadership to ensure business or tax rule changes consider the business facts, provide your own recommendations, and collaborate with the global tax team to develop planning recommendations. Actively participate in the development of implementation plans and facilitate all required changes within the OpCo business (e.g., IT, finance, etc.) + **OpCo Transfer Pricing:** Responsible for review and sign-off of operational transfer pricing and segment reporting required by the relevant transfer pricing policy established by Global Tax. This includes collaboration with trade/customs and accounting on the impact from price changes or transfer pricing adjustments. + **Global Tax Strategy:** Assist and actively collaborate with the global tax planning by identifying the opportunity or impact from changes in legislation; explore statutory guidance to fully consider all potential outcomes. + **Global Tax Accounting:** Support the required components for financial reporting activities at quarter end, soft close and year end. This includes identification and analysis of reserve positions related to the OpCo business, facilitation of data such as cash tax payments (actual and forecasted), and tax account reconciliations of non-US operations of the OpCo. In addition, this will include collaboration with OpCo finance organization for the preparation or review of legal entity forecasting required for global tax accounting and estimated tax payments. This is expected to require collaboration with the OpCo FP&A and accounting teams to ensure forecasts are reasonable based upon available information. + **Global Tax Controversy:** Assist the global tax organization with audit responses which require facts and details of the OpCo. Enquiries by non-U.S. tax authorities will require support or direct management of the audit by this role. + **Global Income Tax Compliance:** Working with resources at OpCo finance and global tax, ensure tax data required for U.S. and OECD (Pillar II) compliance is complete and accurate. Establish procedures and governance to ensure non-US statutory accounts are completed on a timely basis and accurately reflect transactions with a global tax impact. Establish procedures and governance to ensure non-US corporate income tax returns are timely filed and data required for global income tax accounting reconciliations is available. + **Resource Sharing:** The global tax organization will include shared resources at the OpCo and the global tax team to assist with various responsibilities (e.g., preparation of transfer pricing segment financials, data gathering, etc.). This role will be required to effectively plan for the use of shared resources and ensure the overall needs are scheduled appropriately. With that in mind, in addition to your contributions to the US Tax Operations team, you will: + Grow your subject matter expertise across tax through research and analysis for our ever-evolving business. + Actively participate in projects that enhance our tax technology tool kit. + Be supported in efforts to continue your training, stay current in tax developments, and establish yourself in the tax community. **Qualifications & Certifications:** + Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in accounting, finance or related field + Master’s in taxation or accounting, preferred + CPA certification, preferred + 8+ years of progressive corporate or public accounting experience in income tax, including progressive experience in income tax roles for multinational corporations. **Skills & Competencies** + Experience with tax software (e.g., CorpTax), MSFT Office Suite, and efficiency tools (e.g., Power BI Platform, Alteryx), and software tools for financial data (e.g., Oracle, SAP, OneStream). + Knowledge of overall workflow of accounting within ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle). + Demonstrated ability to translate complex income tax concepts / requirements into actionable strategies. + Demonstrated ability to articulate facts and conclusions at a high level in addition to a willingness to explore statutory guidance to fully consider potential tax outcomes. + Demonstrated experience to implement process changes with a cross-functional impact to drive organizational change. + Experience with analysis required for ASC 740. + Strong communication skills with ability to interact with effectively with external advisors and finance teams throughout the organization. + Demonstrated mentoring or development of others + Results-oriented, technically-curious, and values effective collaboration. + High level of integrity and a commitment to upholding professional standards. + We are tax optimizers at heart, we hope you are too! **NEWCO OVERVIEW** Every day, engineers transform scientific potential into real-world impact, reshaping how we live and work.
