**Position Summary**
**The Senior Manager, Interior Design, provides design direction and project management support, working closely with the VP and AVP of Architecture and Design. This role oversees design execution and project coordination to ensure adherence to design principles that exceed company expectations. The Senior Manager will manage the interior design process and all required approvals for assigned projects.**
**This position offers leadership aligned with company standards, department protocols, and industry practices. Additionally, the Senior Manager will assist in securing senior leadership and Marriott International approvals for the Architecture and Design department.**
**The Senior Manager will also be responsible for the overall effectiveness and outcomes of interior design on assigned projects, leading projects at a senior level, and providing interior design expertise to senior leadership. This includes managing communications and deliverables up to the executive level, ensuring adherence to the predefined schedule, scope, and budget, and developing expert-level proficiency in accepted brand standards.**
**Expected Contributions**
**Interior Design and Brand Management**
+ Responsible for the overall effectiveness and outcomes of interior design on assigned projects.
+ Leads projects at a senior level and provides interior design expertise to senior leadership, managing communications and deliverables up to the executive level.
+ Leads interior design on assigned projects, taking responsibility for adhering to the predefined schedule, scope, and budget.
+ Develops an expert-level proficiency and in-depth knowledge of the accepted brand standards.
+ Manages the brand submittal process, responds to commentary, documents approvals, and oversees project closeout protocols.
+ Manages all project-related brand communications for assigned projects, overseeing the design concepts and ensuring timely progression of the design through the approval process. This includes coordinating with the executive committee, brand, operations, and other relevant stakeholders as needed.
+ Champions the creation of coordinated design presentations and participates in Executive Committee level presentations for project approvals.
+ Seeks review and design guidance from senior staff for assigned projects.
+ Promotes innovative design at all levels to address brand, project, and corporate needs.
**Project Management**
+ Supports the VP and AVP of Architecture and Design in managing project teams, resolving issues, negotiating solutions, and handling team dynamics.
+ Promotes design strategies as a key component of the development approval process.
+ Ensures alignment with department standards, brand standards, and project management SOPs.
+ Offers guidance on innovative strategies for interior design and project management SOPs.
+ Oversees team design efforts to produce technically sound documentation for handover to the project management team.
+ Cultivates a collaborative working environment with internal departments, brand stakeholders, and external consultants.
+ Coordinates with departments to re-prioritize tasks and manage changes on assigned projects.
+ Quickly addresses and escalates project issues as necessary.
+ Communicates difficult or sensitive information with tact and discretion.
+ Identifies areas for improvement and provides thoughtful, constructive suggestions for change.
+ Actively seeks a comprehensive understanding of all systems, policies, and processes related to project assignments.
+ Maintains timely and accurate records for assigned projects with excellent follow-up skills.
+ Praises associates for their achievements and takes responsibility for any shortcomings.
+ Creates a working environment that encourages design risk-taking without negative consequences.
+ Leads project team meetings (in-person or virtual) as part of daily business operations for all assigned projects, corporate, and business needs.
**Business Relationships**
+ Partners with department leaders from Sales, Marketing, Architecture & Construction, Finance, Pre-Development, Procurement, Legal, and others as needed on assigned projects, supporting action plans and negotiating solutions.
+ Engages with various departments and stakeholders to foster collaborative working relationships across all business levels.
+ Works with outside consultants and vendors to develop and maintain collaborative working relationships.
+ Highly supportive of the company’s overall vision and business strategy.
+ Assists in research and development efforts for trending products and explores their application and/or integration as potential cost-saving measures for new build and renovation projects.
**Candidate Profile**
**Education**
+ Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering, or Construction Management from an accredited university or equivalent international institution.
+ Professional registration is a plus.
+ Other related technical skills, certifications, and affiliations are an advantage.
**Experience**
+ A minimum of seven (7) years of hospitality-related design experience as an Owners Representative is required.
+ Extensive experience working with interior design related products, vendors, and vendor relations.
+ Working knowledge of customized FF&E product design and product fabrication processes.
+ Management experience with the design process, scheduling, contracts, budgets, construction management, and final product inspections.
+ Extensive experience with managing third-party consultants of varying disciplines for applicable design related tasks.
+ Possesses general understanding of timeshare sales, marketing, hospitality, legal, and accounting functions.
+ Extensive experience managing design schedules, time management and change management within a fluid working environment.
+ Strong experience managing others for assigned tasks with time and budget constraints.
+ Relevant regional or international work experience is a plus.
**Skills & Attributes**
+ Proficient in drawing and sketching, with strong skills in graphic and design software such as CADD, REVIT, SketchUp, Bluebeam, and similar programs.
+ Highly proficient in Microsoft Office programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
+ Fluent in English communication, both written and oral; proficiency in additional languages, such as Creole, European, or Asian languages, is an advantage.
+ Ability to create concepts, produce graphic material packages, set character, present ideas, and clearly communicate development plans and technical concepts.
+ Organized and articulate team player with strong problem-solving skills, the ability to negotiate solutions, and effectively manage challenging personalities.
+ Leads by example and consistently makes well-informed decisions under pressure.
+ Maintains a professional attitude with all personnel in an office environment when solving problems.
+ A willingness to seamlessly respond to changing deadlines and urgent situations with a calm and professional attitude.
+ Ability to coordinate meetings across different time zones and accommodate extended working hours, as needed.
+ Capacity and desire to interface with upper-level management.
+ Assist associates with access to senior leaders to express ideas.
+ Willing to travel domestically and internationally for project-related tasks, with an estimated travel of 25%.
+ Physical ability to independently access construction sites.
+ Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds.
+ Ability to manage team design efforts to achieve technically acceptable documentation to turn over to the project management team.
