Job Summary
Leads and manages transportation operations and import service management for the organization. Uses tools and methodologies to analyze, predict, and improve transportation operations and efficiencies.
Major Tasks, Responsibilities, and Key Accountabilities
Manages transportation operations, including product flow, capacity management, deconsolidation efforts, inventory management, forecasting, and forecast accuracy.Oversees carrier negotiations, procurement and scheduling, cost monitoring, and benchmarking related to transportation service management.Assists with developing the logistics and transportation budget.Evaluates current rates, approved carriers, transit times, and cost-benefit analyses to develop carrier flow plans and end-to-end product flow strategies.Identifies market drivers for direct imports and domestic consolidation and develops benchmarks and recommendations for long-term strategies based on transportation density and utilization trends.Implements operating procedure improvements and methodologies to optimize order flow and decrease delivery time for customers.Ensures logistics and supply chain programs meet safety and regulatory requirements.Maintains third-party logistics relationships.Nature and Scope
Solutions require analysis and investigation.Achieves planned results by decisions and actions based on professional methods, business principles, and practical experience. May recommend/make decisions regarding new programs/initiatives that have significant impact to the business and carry consequences in unsuccessful endeavors.Manages a larger team or multiple small teams through direction of subordinate management and/or supervisory staff.Work Environment
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.Frequent periods are spent standing or sitting in the same location with some opportunity to move about. Occasionally there may be a requirement to stoop or lift light material or equipment (typically less than 8 pounds).Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.Education and Experience
