Clinical Trial Foundations (CTF) as part of Clinical Design, Delivery & Analytics (CDDA) provides leadership in the strategy and development of contemporary clinical trial processes, technologies, information, and capabilities and in shaping external policy and guidance to speed the delivery of medicines to patients globally. The CTF Senior Manager is a leader and key business partner with the global function and provides supervision and coaching to a team of individuals working closely with colleagues in CDDA, Tech@Lilly, and other components of the R&D organization. The Senior Manager also serves as the first line escalation point to manage the operational, compliance, and quality status of prioritized CDDA business system support.  Additionally, the Senior Manager will provide leadership with recruiting/onboarding, process improvements, training, and diversity initiatives, etc. within the CDDA and will ensure career development plans are in place for their staff, all while leading by example in the Team Lilly behaviours.

Primary Responsibilities

Lead a group of direct reports (approximately 10-12) including but not limited to: Contribute to strategy and associated yearly objectives, metrics to measure success; leading staff toward achieving strategy and goals. Recruiting and retaining appropriately qualified staff, recommending and implementing staffing decisions. Management and supervision of staff including performance management, coaching, mentoring and robust development, reward and recognition. Complete talent assessment and succession planning for direct reports and discusses results with individual staff members maintaining the integrity and privacy of the data. Foster an environment of diversity and inclusion where staff feel comfortable speaking up and ideas are shared openly.

Responsible for the oversight and clear visibility in the execution, of timelines, budget, performance metrics and resource needs.Accountable for process improvement and proactive resolution of operational problems/challenges that arise within operational execution  Ensure effective shared learning across the function as well as application of shared learning and best practices. Develop strong collaborative relationships with customers and leadership of areas supported as well as act as communication interface with these areas regarding activities, priorities, and customer feedback. Champion commitment to quality and ensure quality of staff work products. Create an environment that embraces the Team Lilly behaviors: Include, Innovate, Accelerate and Deliver   Monitors training compliance for assistants, ensuring timely completion of all required courses. Partner with Associate Director and Senior Director to ensure personal development plan is in place. Generates ideas, leads and/or provides input into new processes and process improvements within the clinical organization to enhance productivity, quality and site/patient experience. Actively supports staff to share any new learning opportunities or technologies within or across clinical functions.

Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a scientific, medical, or information technology related field preferred or equivalent work experience, preferred.Minimum of 2 years of Supervisory experience, preferred.2 or more years of Clinical Research experience, preferred.Excellent oral and written communication skills; able to communicate clearly and succinctly with team members and leadership. Strong problem-solving skills; able to anticipate and recognize problems, diagnose root causes and take corrective action to prevent recurrence within the team.Excellent self-management and organizational skills; able to manage workload, set personal and team priorities and adjust as needed.Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills; able to develop effective teamwork between team members with diverse interpersonal styles; able to deliver effective coaching and feedback. Flexibility to adjust quickly and effectively to frequent change and altered priorities.
