Sr. Manager -Research and Development (Blend Specialist)

Job Description :

This role delivers technical output that carries a financial impact that consistently delivers on the innovation business KPIs/needs.  The individual is expected to manage multiple complex projects, initiatives and work streams with minimal guidance from manager and L4 technical mentors. 

Leveraging commercial and consumer insight, the individual will act as a source of technical and creative expertise on their cross functional project teams.   The individual will recommend, design and influence the business to implement new product/ technical solutions for application in market.  The individual will be expected to consistently broaden their experience via project work in different disciplines, research programs and/or beverage categories.

Qualifications and Capabilities Required

Education – Bachelors/ Master degree in Alcohol Technology/Analytical Chemistry/Bio Chemistry/Food Technology. Additional certifications including Masters or PhD a plus. Engineering or Applied Science Degree or recognized technical equivalent

Experience - Minimum 8 to 10 years in Distillery/blending/Quality /Product Development.  Experienced in leading project teams; proven record of managing technical projects through to execution.

Functional Requirements

In depth knowledge of processes - Distillation, Maturation and raw material for the alcoholic beveragesUnderstand of wood and cask and the maturation chemistry of whisky and other spiritsGood sensory skill to understand the various sensory parameters and make decision on the quality of spirit independently.Able to translate creative ideas into tangible business opportunities.Visit producing units for audit, sampling, sensory assessment & advising mixing of the spirits to deliver the consistent quality.Import Oak Wood Casks with receipt, usage, filling, maintenance, rejuvenation, transfers and scrappingManage Vats of maturation of Grape Spirit & Rum Spirits, maintenance, filling, rejuvenation, usage & scrapping.Work on maturation & quality improvement of Special Spirits related projects and implementation at unitsWork with external collaborators by generating required data, providing samples & joint process activities at unitPrepare and collaboratively work on technical training module with the process ownersCo-ordinate with PnC , Sourcing, make and supply team seamlessly and build inventory as per the R&D requirements.IT and technology understanding, Mathematical and analytical skills
