Job Summary Dorman is seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer to join our growing team at our manufacturing facility in Virginia Beach. In this newly created position for this site, you will provide manufacturing engineering support to operations personnel by implementing processes and testing requirements designated by product engineering for the successful remanufacturing of Dorman products. This role is onsite Monday through Friday. Primary Duties + Production process design & optimization + Process equipment upgrades to minimize cost of quality + Create and implement preventive maintenance programs for all production critical equipment + Incorporate Lean techniques to continuously improve cost of quality + Estimate production costs, cost saving methods, and the effects of product design changes on expenditures for management review, action, and control + Maintain asset management library of test equipment and tools while m aintaining a clean and safe working environment + Participate in continuous lean process improvements + Process documentation and training, insuring adherence to team process and procedures + Responsible for accuracy and timeliness of assigned tasks + Clear concise documentation properly filed and maintained + Accounting for purchases made on corporate issued credit card + Manage multiple projects while maintaining a high attention to detail, due dates and priorities Qualifications + Knowledge and experience with production processes, remanufacturing processes, costing, and efficiency improvement techniques + Hands on experience with manufacturing equipment such as electronics testing, leak testing, solvent cleaning, hand tools for assembly, painting soldering and de-soldering + Basic knowledge and understanding of ERP systems (SAP), Solidworks 3D modeling and drafting + Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite + Basic knowledge of automotive and vehicle hardware a plus. + Travel: 25% + Physical Requirement : Capability to lift 20 pounds. + Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to reach, swivel, carry items from one building to another, and speak and actively listen. Noise level is usually moderate.
