Job DescriptionManufacturing Engineer position focused on manufacturing and optimization of glass components processed through similar means as optical fiber draw. This position requires an in-depth knowledge material science, specifically in glass. Position responsibilities include:
Optimizing manufacturing and process systems and implementing cost reduction opportunities (yield and productivity improvements, waste elimination)Diagnosing process and equipment issues and working with area engineering technician and maintenance teams to keep equipment running optimallyWorking with and assisting in training bargaining unit employees to improve work processes and product qualityWorking to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, inventory, and productivity problemsWorking with R&D engineering to test, refine and implement new product ideasAssist with new glass composition developmentUsing hand and machine tools, precision gauges, test instruments, and process equipmentPrimary engineering oversight of Fiber Draw/Boule fabrication, bevel, and polish. Acts as a resource for other engineers and technicians. Performing other duties as assigned.QualificationsBS in Chemical, Materials, Glass, Ceramic Engineering or Equivalent5+ years technical experienceAbility to obtain Security ClearanceProficiency in statistical analysis techniquesEffective communication and documentation skillsBasic MS Office skills; Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPointPreferred Additional Skills:
