Job Description

Process engineering position focused on the manufacturing of the phosphor-coated fiber optics. Responsibilities include:

Optimizing manufacturing processes and equipment to reduce touch time, minimize cost, and increase yield.Working with Operations group to manage process improvement, defect analysis, and operator training.Working in cross functional team settings to minimize or eliminate safety, quality, delivery, and productivity problems.Conducting failure analysis of components to determine root cause and implement corrective actions.Increase image intensifier performance (Phosphor Efficiency, Resolution, MTF, etc.) as part of cross-functional team.

QualificationsAbility to obtain a Security ClearanceBS in Chemical, Mechanical or Materials Engineering or equivalent experience with critical thinking and problem-solving skills5 years of technical experience or academic research in optics or related fieldEffective analytical and communication skillsProficiency in statistical analysis techniques and SPCProficiency with designing structured experimentationAbility to work and collaborate well with others with a range of technical capabilities from process operators to production supervisors to engineering colleagues

Preferred:

Proficiency in optics manufacturing processes (grinding, polishing, inspection)Six Sigma certificationExperience writing complex MS Access queriesProficiency with statistical analysis software; Minitab, JMP, SAS…Ability to collaborate with all facets of the Night Vision organizationComfortable with self-initiating business and professional improvementsAbility to support the organizational culture and build morale
