Job Description
We are seeking a seasoned Senior Mechanical Engineer with over 15 years of experience in building mechanical engineering. The ideal candidate will possess extensive expertise in HVAC, plumbing & drainage, and fire protection systems, along with a strong working knowledge of process engineering systems such as compressed air and fueling systems. In addition, in-depth familiarity with Ontario building code, National building code, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards is required. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading and overseeing complex mechanical engineering projects, ensuring compliance with all relevant codes and standards.

Role accountabilities:
Oversee and manage the mechanical engineering teamProvide technical guidance, mentorship, and lead the design and implementation of mechanical and process systems for building projectsCoordinate with architectural team and other engineering disciplines, and actively participate in project planning and budgetingDesign and engineer building-related systems, including HVAC, process ventilation, hydronics, plumbing, drainage, fire protection, controls and building automation systemsEngineer industrial systems such as compressed air, lubrication, and fueling systems, as well as service connections for machine installationsConceptualize and prepare mechanical layouts and express design intent through concept drawings or sketchesAnalyze heating and cooling loads using computerized methodsDevelop and write engineering study reportsEnsure compliance with applicable codes and standards during design development, and coordinate with the energy analysis team for compliance with energy standardsTake responsibility for the production of construction documents and construction administration for projects, and review and approve technical documentationConduct quality assurance checks, foster innovation, and drive continuous improvement within the engineering teamDevelop man-hours for proposal estimates, deliver technical presentations to clients, and expand business with current and new clientsCoordinate staffing needs for projects and provide technical training and education to staffEngage with engineering societiesQualifications
Qualifications and Experience:
Possess over 15 years of experience in mechanical design for industrial and transit facilities, with a strong background in automotive facilities being an assetHold a professional engineering license (P.Eng.) and have a comprehensive understanding of AutoCAD MEP, MicroStation, Revit, 3D software, and related toolsDemonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills for effective internal and client interactionsExhibit the ability to organize and manage multiple project assignmentsHave the aptitude to provide leadership to teams of engineers and designers on projectsLegally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorshipShow proven experience in collaborating with clients, contractors, and other consultantsPossess an excellent understanding of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, Plumbing Code, NFPA, ASHRAE standardsFamiliar with TSSA Fuel & Pressure vessel codes, and industrial ventilation standards, among other relevant industrial standards
