POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Merchandise Planner is a leadership role in the Planning department which provides training and support to planners, as well as fulfills a planner role.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Partners with Supply Chain and Merchandising to develop, execute, and analyze bottom up plans at sub department that are rolled up to meet the company goals.
Develops knowledge of the merchandise categories and incorporates this in the planning process.
Leads planning meetings to discuss goals and expectations of the Merchant team.
Conducts fact-based analysis of performance metrics using history and trends.
Presents exception based reporting to Supply Chain and Merchandising with recommendations for action.
Leads weekly Open to Buy meetings and has a strong understanding of the metrics used in inventory management.
Assists team members in understanding performance metrics.
Prepares month end and year end reporting that is submitted to the planning director and manager.
Supports planners with additional training and works with the planning manager to support the team.
Assists in training new planners and fields questions from the team.
Acts as the liaison between the Analytics and IT departments and the Planning department to request assistance.

EXPERIENCE/QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Degree Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Finance
Preferred Degree: Bachelor’s Degree in Business
Experience: 2-5 of years experience
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITY
Experience in a fast paced customer service oriented multi-channel environment
Solid understanding of merchandising and allocation/replenishment principles, practices, and procedures
Ability to present business strategies and action plans to large groups
Excellent interpersonal and team-leading skills. Includes ability to concisely communicate, both written and orally
Excellent computer skills including MS Word, Excel, and Access
Ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and remain detailed oriented, an energetic team player
Proven strategic, tactical, and analytical skills
Strong decision making and problem solving skills
Strong communication skills, including the ability to listen to multiple business partners in order to incorporate their recommendations and needs

Regular computer work, and sitting
Occasional walking, standing, and lifting up to 50lbs
INDEPENDENT JUDGEMENT:
Develops objectives and general policies and procedures for a specific program or functional area of responsibility within general scope of established operational goals and plans. Day-to-day work and decisions do not require direction or review by immediate supervisor. End results are reviewed by supervisor.
