Sr. Network Connectivity Solutions and Operations Architect
The Sr Architect, Network Engineer is responsible for the development of complex network solutions and standards that meet or exceed business performance expectations. This position will architect, design, develop, and deliver ship to shore communications and data transport, (global) network routing, network security, cloud networking, and data center networking to achieve and sustain world class communications and services for the Carnival fleet, as well as all shoreside locations. The position is responsible for creating detailed solution designs and documentation that support the development, implementation, and operations of enterprise-class network used globally across ship and shore locations. **Job Functions:** + **Design:** Design, plan, document, and support the configuration of logical and physical system layouts. Provide direction for the installation and configuration of all software and hardware packages as needed to support business requirements. Perform analysis and develop solutions based on established service agreements for capacity planning and performance tuning. Develop detailed design, installation, and configuration documentation for enterprise system deployments. Aid in reviewing performance and capacity requests as well as design solution resolution. Collaborate with the Brand service delivery leaders to ensure an understanding of business cases and to ensure that the appropriate solution is selected that meets the business need. Develop solutions with a focus on reducing operating costs or increasing guest and crew experience. Work with other infrastructure teams for new systems designed and engineered. + **Research & Innovation:** Research advances and changes in the technology industry. Collaborate with team members to test and pilot new technologies. + **Support:** Provide system support and troubleshooting expertise as needed. Mentor and lead technical and tactical teams when necessary. + **Security and Compliance:** Ensure that all network initiatives are compliant with applicable security and internal standards (PCI, SOX, PII, HIPPA etc.) and perform all necessary reporting and upgrades needed to remain compliant. Follow all Carnival established procedures (i.e. PRRB, ATR, ITIL, etc.) + Accurate and timely reporting of time in PPM tool. + Upholds the Carnival Cruise Lines’ values of respect, teamwork, integrity, and excellence in all activities. **Qualifications:** + Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field or equivalent work experience. Master’s degree preferred. + 5+ years Experience in large enterprise IT environments, with a focus on network design and implementation required. + 5+ years Experience with routing protocols, routing, switching, and security technologies required. + 3+ years Experience with cloud networking (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI) preferred. + 3+ years Experience with network automation and Infrastructure as Code preferred. + 5+ years Experience in ITIL and IT project management via various SDLCs (i.e. Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid, etc.) required. + 5+ years Participating in cross-functional technology teams required. + 1+ years experience in the cruise and/or travel industry. **Licenses & Certifications:** + Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) upon hire required + Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) upon hire required + Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE) upon hired preferred + Palo Alto Networks Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE) upon hire preferred + Juniper (JNCIE) upon hire preferred. + Project Management Professional (PMP-PMI upon hire preferred + Information Technology infrastructure Library (ITIL) upon hire preferred **Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:** + Strong knowledge of Routing/Switching, DC/LAN/WAN/Wireless + Strong knowledge of Cloud networking with AWS, Azure and GCP + Strong knowledge of Network Security – Firewall, IPS, NAC, VPN, SASE, AAA, etc. + Strong knowledge of dynamic routing protocols like BGP, OSPF, EIGRP Reliable Layer2 spanning tree design + Strong understanding of MPLS VPN, EVPN and VXLAN technology + Strong understanding of cloud networking with AWS, Azure and GCP + Strong knowledge in various network security technology such as Firewall, IPS, AV, Micro-segmentation, Zero-Day attack, Cloud security group management, Secure Access Service Edge, Remote Access VPN and Authentication servers/MFA. + Strong knowledge of XML, DNS, DHCP + Strong knowledge of Hypervisor such as KVM or VMWare + Strong knowledge F5 and Netscaler Application Delivery Controllers + Ability to think critically, problem solve creatively and perform root cause analysis. + Flexibility to adjust to changing priorities and deadlines. + Good analytical skills and attention to detail with a strong business sense. + Ability to manage tight deadlines, prioritize workload, and achieve effective results. + Ability to write comprehensive and concise technical communications (i.e. email, reports, presentations) to be consumed by non-technical individuals. + Ability to create PowerPoint presentations that are informative and engaging and deliver them to various audiences including management. + Very good communication, team building, conflict management, and organizational skills. + Proven track record of working collaboratively with cross functional teams to achieve common goals and drive results. + Proficiency in MS Office. + Ability to quickly learn new technologies and concepts. Physical Demands: Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time. Travel: Less than 25% travel shipboard and shore based. Work Conditions: Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential. This position is classified as “in-office.” As an in-office role, it requires employees to work from a designated Carnival office in South Florida Tuesday through Thursday each week. Employees may work from their homes on Mondays and Fridays. Candidates must be located in (or willing to relocate to) the Miami/Ft. Lauderdale area.
