Sr. Network Engineer

Summary:
Deploy and maintain company LANs, WANs, telecommunications, VOIP, security, and wireless networks, ensuring smooth and reliable operation to fulfill business objectives.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent. Minimum of 5 years of networking experience. Cisco or network certifications are highly desirable. Detailed knowledge of cabling standards, TCP/IP, VLANs, routing protocols, and troubleshooting techniques with network management software. Demonstrated experience in LAN, WAN, WLAN, and WWAN design and implementation, network capacity planning, and network security principles. Strong knowledge of network equipment, including Cisco routers, switches, firewalls, Site-to-Site VPN, and SSL remote access. Specific experience with Cisco product families such as Nexus, Catalyst switch product families, Cisco routers, firewalls, load balancers, and SSL remote access products. Knowledge of Definity PBX and VOIP systems is a plus. Competence with testing tools and procedures for voice and data circuits. Proven ability in managing vendors and service providers.

Job Responsibilities:

Deploy and maintain LANs, WANs, telecommunications, VOIP, security, and wireless networks, including servers, routers, hubs, switches, firewalls, PBX equipment, IPS/IDS, and other hardware. Configure networks to ensure smooth and reliable operation to fulfill business objectives and processes. Define and provide direction to managed service providers, including telecom carriers, cabling, build-outs, and MAC vendors. Monitor network performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed. Collaborate with other infrastructure engineering personnel to assess near- and long-term network capacity needs. Create and maintain documentation related to network configuration, network mapping, processes, and service records. Implement and maintain policies, procedures, and associated training plans for network administration and usage. Conduct research on network products, services, protocols, and standards to stay updated with developments in the networking industry. Provide solution recommendations to meet business or application needs. Practice network asset management, including maintenance of network component inventory and related documentation. Monitor/test network performance and provide network performance metric reports. Oversee new and existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades. Coordinate the establishment of processes, procedures, and documentation to ensure 24/7 availability of local/wide area network. Assess the impact of new versions of network operating systems and equipment and make recommendations for deployment. Ensure appropriate network security measures are in place to protect corporate assets. Interface with UNIX and Windows engineering personnel as necessary to achieve required connectivity and performance. Provide on-call support coverage and work outside of normal hours as required.

Pay Details: $97,000.00 to $130,000.00 per year
