Legrand has an exciting opportunity for a New Product Sourcing Specialist to join the Data Center Power & Control Division in Canonsburg, PA.
This is a newly created position to help drive business expansion.
The New Product Sourcing Specialist is responsible for leading and sourcing efforts for new product development (NPD), ensuring cost-effective, timely, and compliant product launches. Reporting to the Director of Global Strategic Sourcing with a dotted line to Engineering, this role requires expertise in supplier management, compliance verification, and project execution. The NPD Sourcing Specialist ensures that all the products are developed and handed over effectively to run efficiently in our factories from new product development to production.
What Will You Do?
Conduct RFQ and Analyze quotations from different suppliers, utilizing the (TCO) total cost of ownership tools and the cost of the parts, components, and multisource for risk mitigation and on-time delivery of the project.Issue POs and expedite materials to support NPD launches for an on-time launch. Work with internal teams (product, engineering, operation, sourcing, and purchasing) to implement effective supplier strategies from NPD to product life cycle to minimize supply risk for Starline.Work closely with the sourcing team, product development teams, and legal departments to ensure compliance is integrated into the procurement process. Assesses potential suppliers to ensure they have necessary compliance capabilities and certifications.Identify potential compliance risks associated with sourced materials and develop mitigation strategies.Stays updated on evolving environmental and safety regulations and ensures suppliers adhere to them (specifically PFAS).Reviews and verifies material declarations from suppliers, including information on chemical composition and compliance with regulations like REACH or RoHS. Maintains ERP data with up-to-date compliance status. Negotiate with suppliers for parts and tooling, and project timelines to ensure we launch NPD on time, on cost, and on spec.Update and maintain the Costed Bill of Material (CBOM) for each NPD project.Manage supplier's On Time Delivery (OTD) performance during prototype/development phases (Starline NPD Gates).Manage the PPAP orders for new parts when the PO is placed, quality inspection, operation, and engineering sign-off.Work with production buyers to transfer material purchasing responsibility once the new parts have obtained approved PPAP status.Manage NPD-related ECOs and sustain ECOs that affect new part changes related to the 3-year product plan.Conduct and facilitate technical design reviews with suppliers, in order to confirm the functionality of the part/component and manufacturability to support engineering. Lead for sourcing project updates, including risks and mitigation plans. Perform other duties as assigned. QualificationsEducation and Experience
Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain Management or Business Management or equivalent experience5 years of experience purchasing materialsExperience of a high concentration in steel, copper, or electronics markets preferredAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OutlookCPM/PMP/APICS (CPIM or CSCP) certification preferredMRP or ERP software experience, Infor Cloud preferredFamiliarity with Assent and/or Jagger is a plus.Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
