Sr. Packaging Engineer, Competitive Complexity

Job Description:

As a Senior Packaging Engineer, Competitive Complexity at Mars, you will support conceptual design and development activities, determines the sequence of development operations, and determines equipment and proof of principle requirements. Significant collaboration is expected with all engineers, designers, technicians and managers within the Packaging R&D function and across the business to deploy solutions into the market.  
 

What are we looking for? 

Minimum Requirements

BS degree (preferably in Packaging, Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, or related technical field)

5+ years in Packaging Engineering/packaging technology or material development

Knowledge of food packaging fundamentals and application to the product development process

Demonstrated capability to manage multiple priorities

Strong written and verbal communication skills, effective presentation skills

Ability to work effectively in cross functional teams and with external suppliers

Willingness to travel up to 30%

Preferred Qualifications

Advanced degree in Packaging, Engineering, Chemistry, Food Science, or related technical field

Strong understanding of packaging materials, functionality, qualification and commercialization of multiple packaging formats, design of experiment, machine design development, prototype creation

Experience utilizing scientific principles to solve technical problems.

Manage scale-up risk and introduction of technology into supply chain

What will be your key responsibilities? 

Direct leadership of key packaging engineering development projects  

Support the translation of technology from ideas into virtual and working proof of principle models 

Support scale-up and transition of knowledge from the Global Packaging development team, other regions or segments, vendors, sites or technology developments to full scale project deployment

Innovation development of new science and technology or deployment of existing technologies into new applications within the business

Forming effective knowledge/technology teams (internal and external) to overcome hurdles to advance ideas and concepts 

Creating value through harmonization of materials, process or systems across multiple technologies.

Design, deliver and manage specifications of materials, equipment and processes to delivery quality packaging with efficiency.
