Sr. Payroll Specialist

Description We are seeking a Sr. Payroll Specialist to join our team in Westlake, Texas, in the IT Software industry. This role involves providing first-rate end-to-end payroll processing and ensuring the effective management of our Time and Absence system.
Responsibilities:
• Accurate and timely processing of bi-weekly payroll for both hourly and salaried employees.
• Managing the Time and Absence system for a large number of employees.
• Handling garnishments, employee tax, and deduction elections.
• Interacting with employees to address any questions or concerns related to payroll.
• Serving as the primary contact for employer response to internal and external audits related to employees, payroll, and/or benefits.
• Establishing controls and auditing practices to ensure regulatory compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations, ERISA, DOL, HIPAA, etc.
• Auditing employee and employer tax data within HRIS system, identifying discrepancies, and correcting them before quarter-end filings to ensure accuracy.
• Reconciling quarterly tax returns and verifying employee W-2s & corrective W-2Cs.
• Collaborating with vendors as needed for troubleshooting and evaluation of system updates.
• Maintaining records and calculation of fringe benefits associated with the personal use of a company vehicle.
• Establishing and maintaining end-to-end reporting requests, creation, and processes to develop a best practice approach to report delivery.
• Following established payroll processing guidelines, policies, and procedures, and conducting training for Human Resources staff and Time and Absence Managers.
• Compiling and analyzing sensitive data to support various needs within the department or for external needs confidentially and securely.
• Preparing files for the Accounting Department, including General Ledger, Headcount/Census reports, Accruals, etc. Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in a payroll-related role
• Proficiency in ADP Workforce Now software
• Strong understanding of accounting functions related to payroll
• Experience in auditing payroll records
• Knowledge of Workday software
• Experience working with ADP - Payroll software
• Familiarity with Canadian Payroll
• Experience in full cycle payroll processing
• Knowledge in domestic payroll operations
• Understanding of multistate payroll regulations
• Familiarity with payroll garnishments
• Experience in managing payroll for over 1500 employees
• Strong knowledge of payroll functions
• Understanding of payroll taxes and regulations
• Experience in processing bi-weekly payroll
• Capability to process payroll in a timely and accurate manner
