Amazon Web Services came to China in 2013, and has been relentlessly investing and expanding our infrastructure and business since then. Amazon Web Services launched its China (Beijing) Region (operated by Sinnet) in September 2016 and its China (Ningxia) Region (operated by NWCD) in December 2017. In 2019, Amazon Web Services added a new region in Hong Kong, making China the only country with three Amazon Web Services regions aside from the U.S. In 2022, Amazon Web Services launched Local Zone in Taipei. Amazon Web Services has also established an AI lab in Shanghai and two IoT labs in Shenzhen and Taipei. The Amazon Web Services Partner Network has thousands of Partners in China. Amazon Web Services has supported over 10,000 local startups and has provided cloud skills training to over 700,000 talents. Amazon’s first two utility-scale renewable projects - a solar farm and a wind farm - are also generating clean energy to the country’s grid.
The Strategy team ideates and delivers non-linear growth ideas that will shape the Greater China cloud landscape for decades to come. The Greater China Region’s (GCR) cloud computing marketplace is one of the world’s most dynamic and competitive, representing an incredible breadth of challenges accompanied by an equal number of opportunities to Learn and Be Curious, Think Big, and Deliver Results on a scale – and with products and projects – not feasible in other marketplaces.
As a result, the AWS GCR Strategy team is looking for a highly-motivated and experienced Go-to-market (GTM) Strategy Manager, to work closely with GCR leadership team, to: 1) frame go-to-market strategy and drive cross-function alignment to improve organization efficiency and operation excellence; 2) understand external market dynamics and identify emerging trends that could drive explosive growth; and 3) land strategic initiatives.
Here are some top qualities we are looking for:
1. Enjoy creating and managing programs to achieve significant impact.
2. Passion and ability to engage a diverse and challenging set of stakeholders at senior level.
3. Have broad experience in business management and/or project/program management.
4. Have successfully deployed highly strategic and visible initiatives in fast-paced, technical organizations.
Key job responsibilities
The Sr. PM, Strategic Initiatives, will work with Market Intelligence and Business Planning to own conception and prioritization of non-linear growth initiatives for the Greater China market (e.g. regionless architecture, hybrid compute, and remote management), while facilitating go/no-go decisions from the leadership team. This requires highly accurate and detailed narratives with business cases that articulate China-specific issues and opportunities. The Sr. PM will oversee implementation of the initiative, and build a task force aligned across all necessary teams and stakeholders. As part of the execution of the aforementioned strategic initiatives, the Sr. PM will implement processes to monitor, adjust, and iterate as needed.
