Job Description:
The role will oversee and drive the success of automation projects for Filling Line 2 project, focusing on Process Automation systems for Utility and Manufacturing, BMS, QBMS, AAMS, Simulation Platforms and central monitoring etc. This role combines advanced project management, resource allocation, and decision-making to ensure seamless integration and performance of automation solutions. As a senior automation technical leader, the role will also serve as a SME in automation, providing technical mentorship and support to other engineers, guiding technical decision-making, and managing escalations to ensure project milestones are met with high-quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with the project manager to ensure the project is adequately resourced.Lead and manage end-to-end execution of automation-centric projects, including Process Automation, BMS, QBMS, AAMS, Simulation Platform and other automation systems/solutions, from design and development through to deployment.Strategically allocate and manage automation engineering resources across multiple projects, balancing workload demands for both automation-dominated and equipment/utility-focused projects.Assess project requirements and optimize the distribution of engineers to ensure adequate coverage and expertise across initiatives.Coordinate with cross-functional teams, including process equipment, utility and IT, ensuring project timelines, deliverables, and quality standards are met.Develop and track project schedules, resource needs, and budgetary constraints, while mitigating risks to avoid potential delays.Oversee the automation systems design, implementation, commissioning, and qualification across multiple disciplines, ensuring compliance with safety, performance, regulatory, and Lilly standards.Identify, evaluate, and mitigate project risks, ensuring that potential delays or challenges are addressed proactively. Escalate issues timely to minimize the project’s impact.Provide regular project updates and facilitate project meetings.Ensure proper document management, including project, C&Q documents, and procedures etc.Leverage lessons learned from previous projects to improve performance and minimize risks on the current project.Manage change control of assigned scope.Act as the SME in automation systems, providing insights into system architecture, design, and troubleshooting complex issues.Lead the development and implementation of technical solutions to optimize automation performance and reliability.Make key technical decisions, balancing short-term project needs with long-term strategic goals and escalating issues when necessary to ensure continuity.Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior and mid-level automation engineers, establish best practices, frameworks, and guidelines for automation processes and ensure consistent within the team.Complete other tasks as assigned by the manager.Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field required.Minimum of 8-10 years in automation engineering, with at least 5 years in a senior engineering or project management role within the automation area.In-depth knowledge of automation systems and platform (Rockwell), proficient in automation software and tools (e.g., PLC, SCADA) and Instruments.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with an ability to navigate and resolve escalated technical issues effectively.Profound knowledge on GMP and related GQSs, Engineering Standard, HSE requirement, local SOP’s, regulations, etc.Project management experience, and participation in large-scale projects.Strong communication and partnering skills.Proficient in both Chinese and English for communication and documentation.Lilly is dedicated to helping individuals with disabilities to actively engage in the workforce, ensuring equal opportunities when vying for positions.
