Sr. Principal/Principal Scientist, In Vivo Pharmacology
**Description** The In Vivo Sciences group within the Immunology & Respiratory (I&R) Discovery Research group is seeking a highly motivated, interactive, and team-oriented Principal Scientist/Sr. Principal Scientist to join our Ridgefield, CT Research team. The qualified candidate will lead research efforts focusing on in vivo studies to elucidate PK/TE/PD and mechanism of action in order to support target validation, candidate selection and translational pharmacology of novel therapeutic concepts developed to treat autoimmune, inflammatory and/or fibrotic conditions at Boehringer Ingelheim. Candidate must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven track record of high research accountability and productivity both independently with minimal supervision and within a team setting in a matrix environment. **Duties & Responsibilities** + Lead a laboratory dedicated to evaluating translational pharmacology relationships for I&R discovery projects, by making timely decisions and prioritization of resources across portfolio, acting quickly with new information, and developing innovative plans to answer specific project aims. + Develop, design, coordinate/execute, and interpret in vivo studies to provide PK/PD scientific leadership within project teams to interrogate the pharmacology of the molecule in vivo and work together with DMPK and modeling scientists to help drive human dose estimation. + Actively engage and provide strategic input within individual project teams, within the global in vivo sciences team, and to the department including in governance forums. + Oversee, train, develop, and coach research scientists, and influence and collaborate with peers, teams and leadership to achieve meaningful outcomes and create business impact. + Independently prepare, deliver and effectively communicate results in the form of reports and presentations to internal and external stakeholders. + Ensure compliance with all required training, safety, regulatory, HR and intellectual property activities and corporate policies. **Requirements** + Strong knowledge of PK/TE/PD and In vivo pharmacology is essential. + Comprehensive knowledge of immunology/autoimmune diseases in dermatology, gastroenterology and/or rheumatology, with deep understanding of mechanisms, pathways, and current treatment modalities. + Strong understanding of mouse immunology, with exceptional in vivo experimental skills. Prior hands-on experience with mouse models of immunological diseases and developing novel in vivo models to assess the effects of novel therapeutic concepts. Expertise in mechanistic models related to lymphocyte modulation, myeloid resetting, epithelial repair and/or fibrosis is preferred. + Highly motivated to apply his/her skills to impact project needs and drive key innovative scientific concepts, both independently with minimal supervision and within a team setting in a matrix environment. + A demonstrated track record of independent research and peer-reviewed publications in areas of immunology, pharmacology or related research. + Knowledge of biomarker discovery/identification and pre-clinical validation, including assay development/validation is highly desirable. + Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with proven track record of high accountability and productivity, to deliver high quality data that supports timely decisions for projects. + The ability to prioritize responsibilities and be comfortable with changing direction and/or priorities. Demonstrated use of sound judgment to accelerate strategic and project decision-making, + Ability to mentor, develop and lead a group of scientists to deliver high quality data to contribute to overall program goals. Be accountable for the effective performance of the individuals. + Team player with exceptional verbal, presentation, and written communication skills, with the ability to propose, articulate, evaluate, and defend scientific ideas and data. **Principal Scientist:** + PhD in Immunology, Pharmacology, or related discipline with at least 5 years drug discovery experience in pharmaceutical industry or biotech and, at least, 2 years in a group leadership role. **Senior Principal Scientist:** + PhD in Immunology, Pharmacology, or related discipline with at least 7 years drug discovery experience in pharmaceutical industry or biotech or equivalent and, at least, 2 years in a group leadership role. **Compensation** :  This position, Principal Scientist, offers a base salary typically between $140,000.00 and $222,000.00.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
