They manage patient care through independent judgment and collaboration, embodying leadership and partnership to achieve desired patient outcomes. **Responsibilities:** + Identifies opportunities for clinical quality and workplace improvement. Applies evidence-based practice regularly. + Leads or serves on teams for patient care innovations and supports a healthy workforce. + Recognized unit leader in clinical expertise, teaching, specialized resource nursing, and evidence-based practice. + Provides feedback and participates in peer review. Enhances patient care and unit environment, leading successful teams daily. + Demonstrates advanced clinical assessment and analytical skills within Relationship-Based Care. Participates in unit-level shared governance and serves on hospital-wide councils. + Passionate about precepting students, graduate nurses, and new hires, identifying learning opportunities to improve patient care. + Seeks feedback and applies continuous professional improvement, supporting learning through sharing research and presenting. + Uses Relationship-Based Care to create healing environments, formulating daily goals and holistic care plans with patients. + Practices solid communication skills and comprehensive patient documentation. + Identifies clinical, social, safety, psychological, and spiritual issues, incorporating organizational goals to improve patient safety and satisfaction. + Builds healing relationships with patients, families, and colleagues, promoting a caring and compassionate environment. Builds and mends relationships among colleagues, role modeling cultural awareness and addressing horizontal violence. + Maintains work-life balance through prioritization and delegation. + Minimum 2 years of experience required; BSN preferred. + Demonstrates knowledge and skills for age-specific patient care. Understands principles of growth and development over the lifespan. + Assesses and interprets patient data to identify age-specific needs. + Must achieve and maintain a Solid/Strong/Good or higher on performance evaluations. + Establishes positive, caring relationships with all healthcare team members and patients/families. Works effectively in complex environments with changing priorities and specialized equipment. + Exemplary clinical judgment, critical thinking, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. Leads others in applying the nursing process. + Mobility, visual manual dexterity, and physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients. + Annual completion of a professional contribution or UPMC-approved nursing certification within 1 year of hire/transfer. Certification not required if master's in nursing or DNP is held; master's degree in a related field may substitute for certification if BSN is held. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:** + Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within one year of hire or transfer. + Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire. + NIH Stroke Scale (NIH) within 6 months of hire or transfer. + Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within one year of hire or transfer. + Registered Nurse (RN) + Act 33 with renewal + Act 34 with renewal + Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal + UPMC approved nursing certification preferred *Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.
