We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Sr Python Data Engineer to join our team and lead the development and maintenance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software engineering, data integration, and cloud technologies. This role requires excellent leadership skills, technical expertise, and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Key responsibilities:

Data Pipeline Development:

Design and implement robust data pipelines using Python libraries like Pandas, NumPy, and PySpark to extract data from diverse sources (databases, APIs, web scraping), transform it into a usable format, and load it into data warehouses or data lakes.

ETL Process Design:

Develop and optimize ETL processes to clean, standardize, and aggregate data for analysis, including data validation and quality checks.

Data Modeling:

Create efficient data models and schemas for data storage in databases (relational and NoSQL) to optimize data retrieval and analysis.

Cloud Infrastructure Management:

Utilize cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP to deploy and manage data pipelines, including scaling and performance optimization.

Data Integration:

Integrate data from multiple sources, handling data inconsistencies and ensuring data quality across systems.

Collaboration:

Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and business teams to understand data requirements and deliver actionable insights.

Monitoring and Optimization:

Monitor data pipelines for performance issues, identify bottlenecks, and implement optimization strategies to maintain data flow efficiency.

Required Skills:

Proficient Python Programming:

Strong command of Python programming language, including data manipulation libraries (Pandas, NumPy) and data processing frameworks (PySpark)

SQL Expertise:

Excellent knowledge of SQL for querying and manipulating data in relational databases

Data Warehousing and Data Lakes:

Understanding of data warehouse concepts (e.g., Snowflake, Redshift) and data lake technologies (e.g., AWS S3)

Cloud Computing:

Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and related services for data storage and processing

Data Engineering Tools:

Experience with data pipeline orchestration tools (e.g., Apache Airflow) and data quality monitoring tools

Application Expiration Date: 2/17/2025

The annual salary for this position is between $85,000 - $100,000 depending on experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is also eligible for Cognizant’s discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant’s applicable plans.
