Posting Number NONAC3520 Job Title Sr. Research Assistant (Part-Time) Position Title Sr. Research Assistant (Part-Time) Position Type Non-Faculty Number of vacancies 1 Salary Department Neuroscience Institute Position Summary The Senior Research Assistant will support the design, execution, and management of medical research projects within the neurobiology department. The role involves collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data while collaborating with research teams, faculty, and students. The Senior Research Assistant will also assist in the preparation of publications, reports, and grant proposals. Skills: + Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. + Proficiency in research software such as SPSS , SAS , or related. + Excellent communication and organizational skills. + Ability to work independently and in a team environment. Working Conditions: + Primarily lab-based research. Key Responsibilities: Research Support: + Independent in the design, execution, and management of research projects, ensuring alignment with study protocols. + Collect, process, and analyze biological samples. + Conduct statistical analysis and interpret experimental data using software such as SPSS or SAS . + Collaborate with team members on the preparation of manuscripts, abstracts, and presentations for publication or conferences. Project Management: + Coordinate project timelines and ensure milestones are met. + Maintain detailed and organized records of experiments, data, and research activities. + Ensure compliance with institutional, federal, and ethical guidelines for research. Grant and Funding Support: + Assist with the preparation and submission of grant proposals and reports. Mentorship: + Provide guidance and training to junior research staff, students, and interns. + Coordinate research activities and ensure quality control of data collection and documentation. Administrative Duties: + Oversee the maintenance of laboratory equipment and research tools. + Assist with ordering supplies and managing inventory. Minimum Qualifications + Master or PhD degree in biology, biochemistry, or a related field. + 5+ years of research experience in a medical research setting. Candidates must have experience with neuronal cell culture, biochemistry and molecular biological techniques, cell transfection and injury assays, and electrophysiological recordings as a plus. + Experience with statistical software and manuscript/grant writing. Preferred Qualifications + PhD degree is preferred.
