Sr. Respiratory Therapist - CLC Respiratory/Pulmonary

Job Description:

Possesses experience and is highly knowledgeable and skilled in respiratory care and assessment. Provides competent basic and specialty care utilizing an interdisciplinary approach and individualizing care to meet unique patient needs. Able to manage unexpected emergency situations effectively. Serves as preceptor for new employees and respiratory care students.

  

Min Qualifications:

Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy with a Bachelor’s degree in Respiratory Care or other healthcare-related specialty and three (3) years of experience in respiratory care, to include at least two (2) years of critical care experience or Graduation from an approved school of Respiratory Therapy and five (5) years related experience, to include at least three (3) years of recent critical care experience. Must be a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) and maintain credentials with the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) as well as licensure as a Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) with the Texas Department of State Health Services. Must have one (1) specialty credential (i.e. RRT-ACCS, NPS, RPFT, RPSGT, LNFA) or obtain within six (6) months of becoming a Senior Respiratory Therapist. Must maintain specialty credential while classified as a Senior Respiratory Therapist. Must have current BLS and ACLS.

  

Specific Job Related Duties:

 Assesses the respiratory care needs of patients. Utilizing experience and skills to identify and review patient diagnosis/patient care needs, and contraindications and possible complications of patients of performing pulmonary function testing. Proficient in pulmonary function testing including but not limited to spirometry, lung volumes, diffusion, arterial blood gases, cardiopulmonary exercising testing, six-minute walks, respiratory pressures, bronchoprovocation, impedance oscillometry, pentamidine treatments, exercise-induce bronchospasm, and bronchoscopy per department policies. Manages unexpected emergency situations effectively. Proficient in analyzer maintenance, calibrations, quality control, CAP surveys and participates in CAP inspection and preparations. Works independently with minimal supervision, and part of department team. Participates in department meetings, audits, trainings, quality management, inventory control and policy/procedure updates. Demonstrates initiative and accepts continual learning environment and constructive feedback. Serves as preceptor for new employees and respiratory care students in multi-disciplinary team. Proficient in Bronchoscopy and Interventional Pulmonary services including but not limited to bronchoscopy assistance, scheduling, orientation, scope maintenance, equipment proficiency, and documentation. Proficient in time management, and able to flex schedule required for patient care. Adheres to assigned work schedule, annual training requirements, internal controls, UTMB Institutional policies, and other job duties as assigned.

 

Salary: 

$31.25 - $50.00; Salary commensurate with experience

Evening : $2.70

Night: $3.50

Weekend $.90
