POSITION SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Sr Scientist/Scientist to contribute to Natera's research oncology biopharma and academic KOL portfolio. Initiates and executes pre-clinical scientific research and development in the Molecular Biology Research team. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and concepts. Plans and executes laboratory research. Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Contributes substantially and intellectually to research and development Performs lab and relevant analysis duties largely independent from manager Thoroughly comprehends the objectives and vision of the work and is able to excel as a collaborative team player Independently develops plans, generates and advances new ideas Independently designs and executes moderate to high complexity experiments Coordinates the execution and analysis of effective experiments cross-functionally with RUO, statistics and bioinformatics teams Very strong communication, analytical and problem-solving skills Works with external partners and collaborations and has excellent communication skills Communicates progress directly with colleagues, manager, and middle and/or senior managementQUALIFICATIONS:
Sr Scientist: Degree in molecular biology, tissue or cellular biology, immunology or closely related field. M.S. with a minimum of 8 years of industry experience; or Ph.D. with a minimum of 5 - 7 years of relevant industry experience. Scientist: Degree in molecular biology, tissue or cellular biology, immunology or closely related field. M.S with a minimum of 6 years of industry experience; or Ph.D. with a minimum of 3 - 5 years of relevant industry experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Direct experience with nucleic acid technologies for tissue/blood/alternative biofluids (DNA, RNA) and circulating cell free nucleic acid (cfDNA, cfRNA), PCR (multiplex PCR, ddPCR, qPCR), target capture, epigenetics/methylation assays, and associated next-generation sequencing (NGS) techniques. Experience with MRD and ECD products and protein analysis/ expression/ characterization is a plus. Strong research skills with a history of innovation and design of novel, practical, and scalable solutions. Proven success in collaborative, matrixed, and individual projects. Demonstrated success in applying independent scientific judgment in experimental design and analysis. Must have experience in data analysis, statistics, data interpretation and results reporting. Very strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Must have excellent organizational, record-keeping, planning and time management skills. Adept with Excel and basic statistical analysis (R, Excel, JMP). Skilled at writing clear plans, reports and SOPs. Experience with Design Control and in a regulated environment a plus. The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
