independently conceptualize and conduct research that leads to original ideas or
solutions that are adopted to solve relevant problems. Increasingly recognized for
emerging team leadership and expertise in driving R&D projects to add value to IFF.

Sr. Scientist- Microbiome (Ph.D+ Postdoc required)

The Role

This position focuses on the inter-relationship between the microbiome and human / animal health and well-being.  We are looking for a Ph.D. Microbiologist or Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or Biotechnology with 5+ years of experience in lab-microbiome-related research.  The successful candidate will play a vital role in developing novel microbiome-based solutions to address various challenges in Human and animal health.

This position is located at the Experimental Station in Wilmington, Delaware.

The selected candidate will:

Be an integral part of a diverse global team of scientists who work together to support and strengthen our microbiome research portfolio encompassing human and animal probiotics, postbiotics, prebiotics, and enzyme products.Work with collaborative teams in an industrial R&D environment that values creativity and ingenuity.Help our organization implement a research platform enabled by state-of-the-art technologies and a diverse knowledge base to investigate microbial interactions with the host to investigate microbiome relationships with human / animal health and well-being.Perform as an entrepreneur with a creative mind and the dedication needed for aiming at scientific excellence.Serve as both a mentor and a people leader.

Key Accountabilities:

Develop and implement experimental strategies in lab to support business goals and discovery efforts.Evaluate and integrate new technologies into our research strategies.Review data and analytical results, prepare reports and visuals and communicate them to internal and external users, including customers.Manage multiple work streams and integrate results from a wide breadth of a microbiome studies portfolio.

Skills and Experiences

Ph.D. in Microbiology or Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or Biotechnology with 5+ years of experience in lab-based research.Scientific knowledge and experience with cell culture and pre-clinical mice models would be a plus.Demonstrated organizational and planning skills, with attention to detail.Team or group leader with excellent interpersonal and communication skills on all hierarchy levels.Strong communication skills (both verbal and written) and interpersonal skills to convey hypotheses, experimental objectives, results, interpretation of data, and clear path forwards clearly and concisely to a diverse audience including scientists, business teams, and customers.

Preferred:

A strong publication record and /or patents is a plus.Supervisory experience is a plus.
