**Scope of Position**
Daily operation of XRF lab. Contribute to the delivery of R&D projects that generate new materials, processes and understanding. Prioritization of workload. Direct work of technicians. Develop methods, trouble shoot instrumentation issues, participate on project teams, develop short and long term strategy of lab, familiar with state-of-art in x-ray fluorescence spectrometry, coach and mentor colleagues. Periodically organize diverse teams of analysts to solve problems . Establish and maintain quality functions in the law. Act as a technical SME for the global QA labs and assist with the technology transfer.
**Day-to-Day Responsibilities**
+ Acts as a technical expert in a specific field
+ Supervise a team of 4 technicians
+ Manages equipment and resources to keep lab running in good working order
+ Uses rigorous processes and technical knowledge to build fundamental understanding
+ Provides inputs and/or documents ideas and contributions in IDs, RTRs, NTRs as well as refereed publications
+ Makes recommendations for purchasing new equipment, including identifying vendors, collecting quotes and tracking orders
+ Identifies and articulates problems as well as develops and executes approaches to solving them
+ Provides day-to-day problem-solving support to Research, Development, and Manufacturing
+ Develop new methods/applications as needs arise
+ Documents data and writes reports for laboratory processes and instrumentation
+ Makes technical presentations to customers and at conferences
+ Functions as a team leader on focused projects.
+ Trains/coaches new employees, technicians and interns, on laboratory processes, equipment and instrumentation
+ Supports and/or leads continuous improvement activities on products, processes, and cost reduction products
+ Supports technology transfer to Development receiver
+ Travel requirements: 10% or less including occasional international travels.
**Required Education and Experience**
+ Minimum of a MS in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering or related discipline plus 3 years of industrial experience.
+ Hands-on experience in XRF lab including various sample preparation techniques
+ Previous supervisory or leadership experience
+ Fundamental understanding of chemical composition of analysis
+ Strong experience with method development for wide range of materials
+ Strong background in XRF Spectrometry with understanding of instrumentation strengths and weaknesses
+ Good problem-solving skills
+ Strong customer service skills
+ Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills
+ Strong Statistics background
+ Fundamental understanding of Measurement Uncertainty estimation approaches
**Desired Experience**
+ Experience with Panalytical WD XRF equipment
+ Experience with Handheld ED XRF
+ Experience with Bench-top ED XRF Spectrometers
+ Experience with Minitab Statistical software

The range for this position is $86,728.00 - $119,251.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education. The benefits available for this position are dependent on hours worked and may include medical, dental, vision, 401(k) plan, pension plan, life insurance coverage, disability benefits, and PTO.
