The Sr. Service Engineer - Group Leader is an integral part of the CURIA team, contributing to our success by supporting the research scientists in our GMP Analytical Chemistry Laboratories.  The routine functions of the Service Engineer are repair, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instrumentation.  The Service Engineer is expected to demonstrate proficiency in managing calibration activities, change control, instrument qualification, software administration, and instrument troubleshooting as well as direct support of analytical personnel.

Responsibilities:

Perform repair, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory instrumentation, especially chromatography instruments.  Lead a team of high-performing individuals supporting GMP-qualified analytical instruments and the associated quality system. Review and approve documentation related to instrument maintenance and qualification. Manage maintenance and calibration scheduling. Develop and revise Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for operation, maintenance, and qualification of laboratory instrumentation. Manage change control records and assist in identifying, reporting, and resolving quality events (i.e. deviations, out-of-specification results, calibration failures, etc.). Maintain detailed records of maintenance and qualification activities. Provide direct support and guidance to research scientists for instrument troubleshooting. Manage and interact with original equipment manufacturer (OEM) vendors and qualified service providers to facilitate instrument installation, maintenance, and qualification. Source and maintain stock of instrument consumables, repair parts, and kits.  Participate in internal and external GMP audits. Supervise the work of the Metrology team. Conduct laboratory operations in a safe manner. Maintain familiarity with the Chemical Hygiene Plan. Exhibit safety awareness and safe work practices Follow responsible actions regarding chemical disposal.  Maintain compliance with all regulations at the federal, state, and local levels Participate in self-development activities  Perform other related duties as may be reasonably assigned in the course of business

 

Qualifications and background to be successful in this role:

4-year degree in physical sciences, pharmaceutical science, computer/information science, or related field. Minimum of five (5) years of experience with HPLC, UPLC, and GC.  Expertise/experience with Waters™ Alliance®/Acquity® LC systems and Agilent™ 6890/7890 GC systems is highly desired. Minimum of five (5) years of experience with handling instrumentation-related change control processes and quality events in a GMP environment. Experience with Waters™ Empower® software is preferred. Experience with GDP (Good Documentation Practices) in a GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices) environment. Experience supervising others and project management. Familiarity with general office software (Microsoft Office®, Oracle®) and quality management systems (e.g TrackWise Digital, Salesforce®). Compliance with local and federal safety and environmental regulations.

Salary Range:

Education, experience, location and tenure may be considered along with internal equity when job offers are extended.
