Your impact:

OpenText is seeking a Software Engineer to work on the design and implementation of features for a large scale, highly distributed data protection solution. Qualified applicants will have 6 to 8 years of experience.

 

This Software Engineer will report into the Manager of the Data Protector Development Team, work across engineering disciplines, participate in requirements specifications, define architecture, and contribute to the design, implementation, qualification, and delivery of all components associated with the solution’s management back-end.

 

The ideal candidate needs to be forward-looking and pragmatic in solving problems and must have excellent communication skills.

What you need to succeed:

6 to 8 years in a developer position working with C / C++Solid design skills; OOM/OOD, patterns, etc.Experience building large scale and highly distributed, applications Experience building applications on top of Windows and Linux platformsAwareness of security issues and avoidance, specifically with LAN/WAN based applicationsUse of standard development tools; source control, IDE, unit test, etc. Knowledge of good engineering practicesExposure to a formalized Software Development Life Cycle process, preferably scrum methodologyExcellent organizational and communication skillsDesire to work in an exciting and challenging atmosphere

 

One last thing:

Experience developing with Java and REST APIExperience building applications on top of UNIX platforms; SOLARIS, HP-UX, AIX, etc.Knowledge of the data protection (Enterprise backup and restore) business spaceExperience or exposure to Virtualization technologies (VMware, Hypervisor, etc.)Knowledge of database technologies

 

Education and Experience:

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent6 to 8 years of experience
