Sr. Software Engineer - Frontend
Car Rentals is one of the verticals at Uber, responsible for enabling consumers everywhere to rent cars and get it delivered as easily as ordering an Uber. Car Rental has a presence now in US&C, UK and European regions and has ambitious plans. As part of this team, you will be responsible for building renter-side and earner-side experiences to drive growth, improve conversion rates, and reduce friction for our customers. You will work closely with product managers, designers, data scientists, and mobile engineers. Additionally, you will collaborate with various platform teams such as rider core, fares, and fulfillment, matching etc contributing to their codebases to address rent-specific use cases. We are seeking proactive, self-driven individuals with a strong sense of ownership, excellent communication and collaboration skills, and a passion for solving user-facing problems. **About the Role** Uber is changing the way people think about transportation. We're looking for passionate developers to join the Rider Verticals, a cross-functional group in which Design, Data Science, Backend, Android, iOS and Web engineers work collaboratively to design and build products for riders to offer more options to choose from for their mobility needs, work on enhancing tech platforms and improve reliability of various core product offerings. You will build software that will ship to millions of users, or thousands of fellow engineers growing multiple apps that directly impact the ease of our users’ lives. - Work on Uber's most complex applications by designing, implementing, and unit testing the backend application code. - Help teams with defining an architecture that would scale and also encourage best practices. - Create frameworks and abstractions that are reliable, reusable and avoid surprising outcomes. - Go to person to get clarity of problem statements and also can breakdown into meaningful tasks. - Promote and demonstrate problem-specific expertise and execution excellence in delivering results - 7+ Years of exp is required \-\-\-\- Basic Qualifications ---- - Grit, drive and a deep feeling of ownership. - Hands on experience in developing highly scalable micro-services using technologies such as Java and Go - Familiarity with concepts of distributed systems. - Experience analysing a feature in production using analytics and experiments - Experience collaborating on projects and working efficiently as part of a team - Thriving in ambiguity and having a go-getter attitude \-\-\-\- Preferred Qualifications ---- - Knowledge of data structure and algorithms and an ability to use them practically when implementing solutions - Demonstrated experience working collaboratively in cross-functional teams - Experience designing systems across the stack including close collaboration with frontend and mobile engineers We welcome people from all backgrounds who seek the opportunity to help build a future where everyone and everything can move independently.
