The opportunity:
Smurfit Westrock has an opportunity for a Fiber Procurement Business Analyst based out of the Home Office in Atlanta, GA. This position conducts and supports in-depth analytical and business analyses on fiber procurement operations for the virgin fiber mills. The procurement operations include the total annual purchase of 30 million tons of chips, roundwood, and biomass in North America with an annual spend of $1.2 billion. This role supports both strategic and tactical planning across the annual cycle including data acquisition and compilation, market research, and report generation. The position translates business data and conducts timber price forecasting, analysis of timber market dynamics, fiber supply and demand, forest inventory dynamics through growth to drain analyses, evaluations of WestRock wood flows, inventories and fiber financial reporting, examination of the logging force, and research of current market information all in support of regional and divisional purchase strategies.
Work Relationships:
This position reports directly to the Director of Fiber Analytics and interacts regularly with Regional Wood Procurement Managers, Directors of Region Fiber Procurement Operations and the Senior Vice President of Fiber Supply.

Support of all virgin fiber procurement geographic regions, comprising 13 primary paper mill operations and over 20 satellite woodyards and chip mills. Master of Science degree in Forest Economics, Forest Resources, or a related forestry field, or bachelor’s degree in forestry related fields and three to five years of forestry data analysis or finance experience.
Working knowledge of MS Office, statistics, SQL, relational databases, multiple and non-linear regression, linear programming and project management are a plus.
